In 2018, Shareef underwent surgery as he faced complications physically and while playing the game. Thankfully, the future NBA prospect’s surgery was successful. In a recent interview on The Dan Patrick Show, Shaq spoke about how he comforted his son before the surgery, “He was terrified. “You know, I always told myself that it’s stories that calm me down and get me to the next level,” Shaq said.

“So he was scared right before the surgery, and he had a little tear in his eye. I told him he should be, however when you enter that room, you’ll meet a young lady named ‘Ana Sthesia’ and you’ll forget everything. Her name is Ana Sthesia, and she is going to kiss you, he laughed, and ‘and then you’ll wake and everything will be fine.
