In an effort to perhaps purchase one of his past basketball teams, Shaquille O’Neal has indicated desire to collaborate with Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. O’Neal is reportedly considering purchasing a share of the team now that Bezos is a strong candidate to buy the franchise.

Since Robert Sarver regularly used racially derogatory terms at work and justified conduct that were viewed as inappropriate and sexist, the team’s 17-year tenure under his command was portrayed as a toxic and occasionally hostile work environment. Last month, the NBA announced its charges against Sarver: a $10 million fine and a one-year suspension. In response to the outpouring of public fury, Sarver decided to sell the Phoenix Mercury and the Suns. Shaquille O’Neal was questioned about the scenario in a recent interview with TMZ. He said that he wants to speak with Jeff Bezos about the chance to purchase the franchise, despite the fact that they haven’t spoken in a while.

Is Jeff Bezos going to purchase the Suns?

In an interview with TMZ on Saturday, Shaq discussed the possibility of purchasing the Phoenix Suns, a former franchise of his that will in part be on the market due to Robert Sarver’s intentions to do so. Even one of the most well-known athletes in the world would withdraw from a contest out of concern of competing against one of the richest men in the world. The Phoenix Suns’ potential sale to Bezos has not been confirmed, but a current report included the Amazon owner among prospective purchasers. O’Neal stated: “Once Jeff Bezos put his name in the hat, all you others just close your checkbook and go home.”

However, if necessary, the Big Diesel is willing to go along with the Amazon man in potentially buying the organization. Shaq also added: “Nobody on this planet can compete with Big Man JB. Because you know what? I just ordered 50 things off Amazon today. Big Man JB, got that money coming in.” From 2008 to 2009, O’Neal was a member of the Suns before going to the Cleveland Cavaliers. O’Neal has long wanted to buy an NBA club, and he presently owns a franchise portfolio worth over $100 million. Shaq attempted to buy the Orlando Magic from its existing owners back in June but was unsuccessful.

One of several wealthy entrepreneurs who may buy the Suns is Jeff Bezos. Along with the owner of Amazon, former Disney CEO Robert Iger is a contender to buy the franchise. Other powerful bidders might include Laurene Powell Jobs, the ex-wife of late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, and former Oracle CEO Larry Ellison. According to reports, the Suns franchise is presently worth $1.8 billion and could fetch at least $2.5 billion in a sale. Bezos’ net worth was reportedly $138.1 billion, while Shaq’s is thought to be approximately $400 million. As they get ready for the turbulent NBA in two weeks, the Phoenix Suns are on a quest to make it to the NBA Finals.
