Shaquille O’Neal was one of the most dominant and talented players on the court. But his talent was not on the court alone but he has a knack for making money too as over the years he has made many strategic investments that were a success and have made him tons of money. While Shaq had a good money-making strategy, the same could not be said about a former teammate of his.

Antoine Walker had an amazing 16-year run in the NBA with a championship with Shaq and Dwyane Wade, he was also a three-time all-star. By the end of his career, he had accumulated over $110 million in earnings sadly for him, 2 years out of the league he had lost all his wealth and had to declare bankruptcy.

Antoine Walker’s Investment Blunder

Antoine Walker

Antoine Walker had a humble beginning, when he entered the league he was poor and so when he started earning naturally he went on to spend his money on lavish things like expensive cars, alcohol and jewellery while also helping out friends and family. But the gravest mistake he made was getting into the real estate business on the advice of a friend and when the Great Recession hit in 2008 the Heat player lost all his investment.

The former Miami Heat player had to declare bankruptcy and had to take out several loans to recover after losing everything. Thankfully, he got back up after hitting rock bottom and today helps out people who face similar situations. Now while it is unknown who Antoine Walker took financial advice from, it definitely could not have been Shaq.

Shaq has made decisions after his career that has kept him financially wealthy years after his retirement. With a projected network of around $400 million, half of which came from his career as a player whereas the other half he received from endorsements, his tv deals and entrepreneurial ventures. While Shaq is careful about his money, Big Diesel does have some crazy expenses as he has the privilege of having the largest purchase in Walmart history at $720,000!
