“SHOCKED” – NBA analysts skeptical if Anthony Davis pulled off Paul Pierce’s ‘wheelchair story’ with Game 5 head injury
Alan Hahn voices doubts over Anthony Davis' injury after Lakers star's removal from Game 5 in a wheelchair
Anthony Davis, the star player for the Los Angeles Lakers, was wheeled out of Game 5 of the NBA Western Conference Semifinals against the Golden State Warriors. Davis was struck in the head by Warriors big man Kevon Looney late in the fourth quarter during the incident. Following the incident, Davis was seen sitting on the bench holding his head before being taken off to the locker room.
Fans and analysts speculated about the severity of Davis’ injury as word of his removal from a wheelchair spread quickly on social media. Others questioned the legitimacy of Davis’s injuries, bringing parallels to the famed “wheelchair story” of former Boston Celtics player Paul Pierce.
“The part that got me was not necessarily him holding his head at that moment because you know you’ve been hitting the head before,” Hahn said. “but when he went to the bench and you could see it’s like he was like this… when you hear wheelchair, you think that’s pretty serious or it’s Paul Pierce, right?”
During a recent episode of ESPN’s “Get Up,” analyst Alan Hahn shared his thoughts on the incident. He noted that while he initially believed that Davis’s injury must have been serious, he became skeptical when he got to know that the Lakers star was too woozy to stand on his own and had to be wheeled away.
Hahn also mentioned that Chris Haynes’s tweet about Davis’s injury only added to the confusion, as it was unclear whether the wheelchair was a precautionary measure or a sign of a more severe injury.
