The New Zealand Breakers have made a significant roster upgrade for the 2023-24 Australian NBL season by adding former Golden State Warrior Anthony Lamb, according to reports.
Lamb is coming off a productive year, having played in 62 regular season games and six NBA playoff games with the Golden State Warriors. The 25-year-old averaged 6.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game, with impressive shooting percentages of 47.1% from the field and 36.7% from three-point range.
As a free agent this summer, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reports that Lamb is set to sign a deal with the New Zealand Breakers.
Lamb has accumulated three seasons of NBA experience with the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, and Golden State Warriors. Throughout his career, he has maintained averages of 6.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game, spanning 88 regular season games (with an additional six appearances in NBA playoff games). Given his productive role-player status, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him make a return to the NBA in the near future.
Anthony Lamb was accused of s*xual assault in December last year
In December of last year, a lawsuit was filed by three women against the University of Vermont, alleging that Anthony Lamb s*xually assaulted a fellow student during his time at the university.
The plaintiffs in the lawsuit accused university leadership of not taking sufficient action to address student-on-student harassment, s*xual assault, and drugging. They claimed that this negligence created an environment where female students were at a higher risk of s*xual assault.
Lamb was not named as a defendant in the lawsuit but was accused of s*xually assaulting Kendall Ware, a former Vermont swimmer and one of the plaintiffs in the case. Ware had previously publicly discussed the alleged assault in 2020 but did not identify Lamb as the player involved.
According to the lawsuit, the incident occurred at an off-campus party hosted by members of the Vermont men’s basketball team in September 2019. The lawsuit alleges that Lamb “forcefully anally penetrated” Ware while she repeatedly pleaded with him to stop. Lamb, who was a junior at the time, reportedly told Ware to “just take it” and continued the assault.
Lamb denied that he had ever committed s*xual assault.“The allegations made against me in 2019 that have recently resurfaced are patently false,” he said in a statement, per The Athletic. “I have always been fully cooperative regarding the alleged incident, and have welcomed any investigation into the matter. Simply put, I have never committed s*xual assault.”
