Kevin Porter Jr. landed himself in hot water when reports of his alleged domestic violence against his girlfriend, Kysre Gondrezick, surfaced. As per reports, the NBA player left his girlfriend with a fractured neck vertebra and a deep cut above her right eye. He is battling charges of second-degree felony assault, second-degree strangulation and third-degree assault.

However, a significant twist has emerged as more details regarding the alleged assault have come to light. A forensic study of Gondrezick’s injuries revealed that her congenital condition was initially misidentified as a cracked vertebra. According to the forensic reports, it appears unlikely that this resulted from her altercation with Porter Jr.

According to Priscilla DeGregory of the New York Post, the DA’s office has acknowledged that Gondrezick did not sustain a cracked vertebra as a result of Porter Jr.’s actions. The Rockets guard and his legal team are now asking the Manhattan District Attorney’s office to drop the second-degree felony assault charges following the release of this important information.

Based on the prosecution’s findings, Porter Jr. is accused of “repeatedly” punching her partner and forcefully “squeezing her neck,” causing her difficulty in breathing and substantial pain. The defense team representing the Rockets guard has contended that if Porter Jr. had indeed punched her, Kysre would have likely sustained a broken jaw or a similar injury.

With Kevin Porter Jr. entangled in legal trouble, the Houston Rockets have placed the guard on the trade market. The franchise is looking to trade their guard after he was arrested and charged with felony assault and strangulation of his girlfriend, as reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

The Rockets have approached several teams, offering draft picks as an incentive to take on Porter, who is under a four-year, $82.5 million deal with the 2023-24 season guaranteed at $15.9 million.

The Rockets’ front office is looking to use Porter’s contract to acquire a player who can contribute right away and improve the team. However, given Porter Jr.’s ongoing legal issues, it’s highly improbable that any team would be willing to engage in such a trade.
