The ongoing James Harden-Philadelphia 76ers saga has recently undergone significant development, and it appears increasingly challenging for the two sides to find common ground now. As per a report from Chris Haynes, Harden was denied permission to board the team plane and accompany the 76ers on their road trip.
Additionally, Haynes mentioned that both the GM, Elton Brand, and the head coach, Nick Nurse, had a conversation with Harden, conveying their expectation for him to adhere to the team’s specific workout regimen. This, in turn, would necessitate his presence at the team’s practice facility while the rest of the team was away. Understandably, Harden was left frustrated by this development, and he subsequently left the airport.
General manager Elton Brand and head coach Nick Nurse spoke to Harden to explain that the organization prefers he accepts and follows their workout plan, which includes staying at the practice facility while the team is away, sources say.Haynes of the Bleacher Report reported.
Following a 10-day absence from the Philadelphia 76ers’ training camp due to personal matters that required his presence in Houston, Harden made his return to Philadelphia on Wednesday, just in time for the commencement of the regular season.
Coincidentally, on the same day, the Sixers were scheduled to take a flight to Milwaukee, where they would face off against the formidable duo of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, and the Milwaukee Bucks in their highly anticipated season opener on Thursday night.
The team explained Harden’s need to stay back by referencing the tracking system they use at their facility for monitoring player workouts, which is not available on the road. However, Harden’s camp believes this explanation might be more of an excuse to eliminate distractions for the rest of the team, especially as they gear up to face a formidable Eastern Conference opponent in the Bucks
Clippers reportedly pause talks for James Harden as NBA season tips off
As the NBA season kicks off, James Harden remains a part of the Philadelphia 76ers, and it seems that there are currently no imminent plans for a trade involving him and the LA Clippers.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Clippers have chosen to put a temporary halt on trade discussions with the 76ers regarding Harden. The organization’s new approach is to assess their team’s performance at the start of the season, considering that they are currently the only team to have made a substantial offer for the highly sought-after guard.
The Clippers and the Sixers have found themselves in a stalemate since early July, which was when Harden decided to opt into his $35.6 million player option for the 2023-24 season.
Harden has consistently expressed his desire to team up with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in Los Angeles. However, Sixers President of Basketball Operations, Daryl Morey, has shown a degree of reluctance in pushing forward with the deal.
As the NBA season starts to gain momentum, it’ll be certainly interesting to see what the future has in store for Harden and the 76ers.
