A superstar athlete like Stephen Curry‘s home is often observed and the subject of curiosity for many. For that reason, they employ professional high-level security. But what happens when there is a lapse in that security?
Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry had to endure one such nightmare. In October 2023, a young international student walked into Stephen Curry’s home in Atherton, San Fransisco. The student pressed codes into the gate security and it opened. He proceeded to enter the living room of the house. That is when their nanny confronted the intruder and asked him to leave.
Stephen Curry and his wife Ayesha were not in the house when this intrusion happened. Their kids and the nanny were in the house at that moment. The intruder, Sheng Gao, 19, an international exchange student reportedly pressed some buttons on the gate security keypad, and it just opened. He claims all he wanted was an autograph.
He was suggested by someone that a famous athlete lives in that area. Atherton, San Fransisco is the wealthiest ZIP code in the USA. Although there was no sign of burglary, the student was slapped with a “trespassing” charge by the police.
Stephen Curry is leading the Warriors this season
Stephen Curry is arguably one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history. This season his production for the Golden State Warriors has been elite with 29.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game. Curry has been taking the bulk load of the Warriors scoring this season.
However, all that elite play is still not enough for the Warriors. They are currently 10-12 for the season and sitting outside the playoff seeding. Drop in the play from Curry’s teammates, injuries and suspensions have combined to undermine the season so far.
Carrying the weight of the offense on his shoulders while having to deal with a security lapse at his home is not what Curry needs at this time. Curry needs to ensure these distractions do not hinder his primary job.
