He has, however, been plagued by injuries over the last two seasons. Gilgeous-2020-21 Alexander’s season was cut short after 35 games due to a plantar fascia tear. Due to ankle issues and a concussion, he only played in 56 games last season. Nonetheless, he has been involved in the Canadian national team this offseason.
Despite being a rising star in the league, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been mentioned in a number of trade rumours over the last year. The Philadelphia 76ers, Detroit Pistons, and Cleveland Cavaliers were reportedly among the teams interested in him. The Thunder are still in the early stages of their rebuild, and Chet Holmgren’s injury has slowed things even more. They have 39 draught picks until the 2029 draught. Sam Presti, the general manager, has done an excellent job of stockpiling assets.
