“The Celtics are not overwhelmed by Steph Curry’s showboating and front-running” Skip Bayless applauds Celtics in pressuring Warriors in the fourth quarter
Skip Bayless on Boston Celtics shutting Down Stephen Curry in 4th quarter
Boston Celtics maintained their away run and Skip Bayless was very much impressed with their persistent tries which finally paid off well for the visiting team
The 2022 NBA finals had all the ingredients of a good basketball game. Elite shooting and defending, both teams banking on their strengths, also tried to expose opponents to their weaknesses. While stars of both the sides perform their best to win the 1st game of the series, which was a very much pleasing sign for the fans of both sides. Skip Bayless was more impressed by the Celtics’ performance, especially in the fourth quarter, which proved to be the deciding factor in the game.
Stephen Curry, who started the game on a positive note, struggled in the latter part of the game. And Bayless applauded the strategy of the Celtics as he said, “The Celtics are the first team that isn’t overwhelmed and intimidated by Steph’s showboating, hot-dogging and front-running. They just shrug and keep battling.”
Boston Celtics hold off Stephen Curry and Golden State Warriors in the 4th quarter for the Win
Golden State Warriors had the upper hand in the game, playing at Chase Center, where they have not lost a single game in this postseason. But the Celtics on the other hand had a better away record, and it made the matchup interesting.
The Splash Brothers showed hot hands right from the start and other Warriors players also helped maintain the momentum in the game. Boston though, as they have done throughout the playoffs kept a “safe scoring distance” from the Warriors’ total. They even led at the half by 2 points.
But 2nd half performance had always been a strong point of Golden state Warriors since their 1st Championship season. They had a massive 3rd quarter and entered the 4th with a massive 12-point lead. The game looked set for the Warriors where they previously overpowered their opponents finishing stronger in the 4th quarter.
But resilient Boston Celtics up their pressure defense in the decisive 12 minutes of the game, limiting 3-time world Champions Stephen Curry and the Warriors to just 16 points. Curry who had 21 points alone in the 1st quarter scored 4 points with 33% shooting from the field. Also, the Celtics were able to force 4 turnovers in the fourth quarter, while conceding just 1.
In a 24-point switch, Golden State Warriors were helpless offensively and even had a five-minute scoring drought, which is unlikely at the Chase Center. Starters were removed in the closing minutes of the game, as the Warriors waved the white flag.
Curry ended the game with 34 points on 12-25 shooting from the field, and Wiggins had 20 points. The Celtics managed to come up with a win behind Al Horford and Jaylen Brown’s performance, which combined 50 points for the team, and Derrick White, ended up with impressive 21 points to hurt the Warriors.
Stephen Curry and Golden State Warriors lost their 1st game at the Chase center this postseason, and they will b looking onto improvising on it before things get any worst.
