“Dennis Schroder will be better than Russell Westbrook” Skip Bayless believes LeBron James is working on ‘Plan-B’ by being nice to former teammate
Dennis Schroder, LeBron James and Anthony Davis
LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers are playing surely taking time to add pieces to their roster before the start of 2022-23 season. The team just has 9 players on their bench and yet they are not rushing to add an athlete to complete the ‘picture’. For most of his career, LeBron has had a lot of pull when it comes to front office decisions. The front office has majorly supported his views and decisions to keep him at the franchise – as there is more than a 50% guarantee from LeBron James alone to reach the Finals. So the King’s activities are closely observed and many might get some speculations over possible additions to his roaster.
Very recently veteran sixth man Dennis Schroder was seen interacting with LeBron James on social media, leading to speculation of a potential reunion in LA. Lauding his attempt to lure former teammates to rejoin the project, Skip Bayless feels that Schroder would be a better fit than Russell Westbrook. So, if the Lakers are looking at upgrading their roaster after the abysmal 2022 season, there you have a nod from a critic for Dennis Schroder.
Here is what an Award-winning journalist, TV host, and author Skip Bayless said about the possible reunion, “Right now, Dennis Schröder is better than Russell Westbrook. He would be more acceptable to LeBron and AD. He would be much more useful and a better fit for LeBron than Russ.”
How Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James can win titles with Dennis Schroder?
Dennis Schroder is not an exciting name for a Hollywood franchise, but certainly a useful piece though. After missing the playoffs last season, the Los Angeles Lakers are looking to get back in the hunt for a title. They have their championship duo LeBron James and Anthony Davis, probably one of the best pairs in the current scenario. To add to their chances of winning any silverware again, they will need to make the necessary upgrades to the supporting cast.

With the frontcourt already stacked up with some quality players, the Lakers would be looking at an upgrade in the backcourt area. Identifying this, recently LeBron James has been hard at work trying to get a former teammate Dennis Schroder back at the LA Franchise.
Two seasons ago, 17-time Champions signed the German international to a one-year deal. He fared well in his tenure at the Purple and Gold, averaging 15.4 points and 5.8 assists per game. With a 38-23 record at the Lakers, it’s fair to assume Dennis Schroder could be an upgrade if brought back. However, to say he’s a much better fit next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis than Russell Westbrook who had a 31-47 record with the Lakers.
Lakers did try to resign Schroder, who refused the offer and joined the Celts in Aug 2021. When the Lakers won the title in 2020, they did it with a simple blueprint. They had their star duo and surrounded them with defense and shooting. Schroder perfectly fits in the role, as he is a 33.8% shooter from beyond the arc and above 43% from the field. He is a decent 84% free-throw shooter also.
Also, Schroder can be a better addition from a role perspective. While in LA, the 28-year-old guard knew that LeBron and Anthony Davis were the focal point, and learned to play off them, while Russell Westbrook struggled to do the same.
Also, LeBron is trying to play nice with Schroder, it’s simply because the free agent market has dried up. With Schroder’s current performances at an international level, he could be a better guard to add, given that there are minimal options to choose from at this point.
