Skip Bayless lashes at Luka Doncic

Skip Bayless wasn’t leaving Luka Doncic alone, as Dallas suffered a deflating 126-117 defeat at the hands of the Golden State Warriors. The vintage, ‘3rd-quarter Warriors’ stormed Dallas, tore their defense down with a spearhead by the name of Stephen Curry. Curry dropped 32 points while Kevon Looney had a career-high 21 points and 12 rebounds, as the Warriors rallied past the Dallas Mavericks on Friday evening for a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference finals. Luka was helpless as he saw Dallas give away a 14-point lead in the second half, which Skip Bayless holds him accountable for.

The Warriors were in a pickle, as they had a 14-point deficit to take care of against this resilient Dallas defense. However, the classic Warriors fans knew what was coming in the 2nd half, as Steph Curry along with Kevon Looney and Jordan Poole set the court ablaze with an electric display. Curry scored 32 points with six 3-pointers and 8 rebounds, Looney had a career-high 21 points and 12 rebounds, as Jordan Poole scored 23 points in a signature comeback for the Warriors.

It all seems to be a spiraling black hole for Luka Doncic who, despite scoring 18 points in the first quarter itself, 42 as he finished the game, couldn’t drag his team over the line against the fiery Warriors. Luka Doncic was a beast on the court as he dropped 42 points and the Mavericks led most of the way before Golden State grabbed its first lead of the night on Otto Porter Jr.‘s 3-pointer 18 seconds into the final quarter. Jalen Brunson was in supporting role today with 31 points to his name, in addition to 7 assists and 5 rebounds.

“Dallas lived and died by Luka Doncic tonight” – Skip Bayless

Skip Bayless is known to be one of the biggest critics of Luka Doncic, and probably doesn’t even consider him to be ‘Superstar’. Bayless claimed the Slovenian was leaking the points in defense which cost Dallas the lead, and ultimately the victory. Doncic had a poor outing in Game 1, where he scored only 20 points on 33.3% shooting. However, he started Game 2 with much fervor, only for Dallas to blow up a 19-point lead. After the game, Skip Bayless sent out a tweet related to the Slovenian Centre that said :

Dallas lived and died by Luka tonight. Led by 19 because of Luka. Lost by 9 because Luka is such a liability on defense. Ever known a superstar who was as targeted and abused on defense as Luka?” Skip Bayless wasn’t holding his shots back, as he held Luka responsible for slacking in defense, despite putting 42 points on the night.

Although he has come in clutch for his team, as seen by his jaw-dropping heroics against Phoenix Suns, when they were 2-0 down the Western Conference Semis and needed someone to step up, Luka did. Having played in three playoffs so far, Doncic averages 32.5 PPG, 9.1 RPG and 8.1 APG in the postseason, putting up outrageous numbers.

The loss has to be a deflating one for Dallas, especially after how well they played in the first half. Plus, no team wants to fall behind by two games in a playoff series. They’ll have to figure out a way to bounce back at home. The series now moves to Dallas for Game 3 as Doncic and company try to come up with a plan to not suffer anymore at the hands of the most experienced team in the playoffs still fighting, Golden State Warriors.
