Skip Bayless was seen emotional as his co-host Shannon Sharpe bid adieu to the “Undisputed” after seven successful years. The 71-year-old heaped high praise on the former NFL star and appreciated him for all his hard work on the show. Bayless shared that he would miss the debates they would have about LeBron James and called the LA Lakers star a ‘Phony GOAT’ in his monologue.

Bayless and Sharpe are two of the most renowned faces in sports media. After a successful stint with Bayless, Sharpe decided to buy out his contract and is now looking for new work in the media. Speaking about Sharpe, Bayless said, “I wanna thank you for dedicating yourself to this job, it is a veracious beast of a show, day after day after day you dedicated yourself to this job, just the way you dedicated yourself to professional football as a Hall of Famer.”

He further continued, “I wanna thank you for never taking a sick day, I wanna thank you for preparing hard as you could every single day, every single topic. I wanna thank you for competing as hard as you competed with me because the greatest compliment I can give you is, you were a worthy adversary.”

The two have often locked horns over several topics and that is what has attracted a lot of viewers on their show. With Shannon Sharpe gone, it will be interesting to see who replaces him on the Undisputed. The Hall of Fame NFL star has not revealed his plans for the future but has confirmed that he will continue his career in media.

Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe teamed up in 2016 and since then they have helped Fox Sports reach new heights. However, their journey has not been all that easy and has seen many bumps. Bayless and Sharpe have had fiery debates on TV.

There are many speculations that suggest Sharpe’s exit is because of what transpired between the two during the Damar Hamlin debate earlier this year. The Buffalo Bills player suffered a cardiac arrest on the field and needed to be given CPR to revive him. Bayless shared an extremely offensive tweet online and Sharpe, who had taken a day off, expressed on his return that he hoped for Bayless to take the tweet down.

Sharpe is also a massive fan of LeBron James‘ game, contrary to Skip Bayless, who very often criticizes the four-time NBA champion’s game. With Sharpe having taken a separate route, it will be interesting to see if the new co-host will be able to withstand the toughness of Bayless.
