LeBron James has had an illustrious career made out of poster dunks, buzzer beaters and pretty applaud-worthy attacking prowess, yet his short-comings is what Skip Bayless has made a career out off. To say that Skip Bayless is LeBron’s biggest critic would be an understatement. Another episode unfolded before us today as he and Shannon Sharpe discussed Kent Bazemore’s recent comments about how LeBron shouldn’t receive such heavy criticism for what happened to the Lakers this season. Bazemore believes LeBron did everything he could, and as you can imagine, Bayless was not a big fan of what was said.

The 2021-22 NBA season did not go as planned for the basketball giants in Los Angeles. Boasting a star-studded lineup, with one of the all-time greats, LeBron James himself, and two future Hall of Famers in Anthony Davis and freshly traded, Russell Westbrook, the Lakers looked scary on paper. However, the ‘Shooting Stars’ could not fulfill their wishes. The purple and gold franchise started the season poorly and didn’t seem to take games seriously throughout regular season. Safe to say, there seemed to be a lack of urgency among the players in general, with all the injuries, they never developed any rhythm.

“To me, LeBron James over the expanse of his career has been the most overprotected and under criticized superstar I have ever encountered. How can you defend Games 4,5, and 6 against Boston in 2010, when his owner accused him of quitting and somebody from his inner circle said that he had to be sedated… How do you defend Games 4, 5, and 6, that meltdown against Dallas in the Finals, that’s just impossible to defend. How can you defend the last 3 minutes of regulation in 2013, he just completely unraveled, 3 turnovers in the last 3 minutes… In 2014, he gets blown off the floor in the Finals by a record Finals margin“
This how Skip Bayless ripped into LeBron James after Kent Bazemore comments defending LeBron. Bayless’ argument is hilarious as each and every one of the failures that Bayless mentioned, led to LeBron James receiving vicious scathes and jabs from the media. Moreover, Bayless was the one leading the charge for that criticism.
“I dare anybody to go look at the tapes of Games 3 and 4 in Miami and tell me what you dont see from LeBron James, because it was 1-1 going back. That happened, 5 games… LeBricked the tying 3, long rebound to Chris Bosh, kick to corner, Ray Allen saved his legacy. He should have 7 Finals losses… 2018 Game 1 in Golden State, how do you get let off the hook for what happened, he passes it, the free throw gets missed, JR loses his mind, then LeBron just quits on his team in overtime.” It is evident that Bayless likes to rub in the past wounds of LeBron.
The Lakers had a drastically poor record of 33-49 , as they move on from this nightmarish season , they will have to make plenty of moves to get back on track. As LeBron gets ready for the upcoming season, the team will have to give him more reinforcements to bring back the legacy of the Lakers. One thing that wont change is Skip Bayless, he will never fail to have a jab at LeBron anytime soon.
