“Proud of the work you’ve put” Skip Bayless claims LeBron James’ conditioning bodes well for Lakers’ future
Skip Bayless and LeBron James
LeBron James finally signed on the dotted line extending his stay with the Los Angeles Lakers. But they are aware that they are running out of time to make a run for the NBA championship with just 3 season window available for them as of now. While LeBron will be 38 soon, he’s shown no signs of slowing down. He rather had put on a show, giving his personal best performance last season. His efforts were not missed by his stern critic Skip Bayless, as this time he praised LBJ for the same.
Speaking recently on “Undisputed,” analyst Skip Bayless talked about Los Angeles Lakers’ upcoming season with respect to LeBron James’ contract extension. He not only praised LeBron for his work ethic but also said that it is a good sign for the Lakers going ahead into the 2023 season.
On the popular show Skip said, “OK, I believe this bodes well for this coming years Lakers. I believe LeBron is very proud of the work he has put in not only on his body, but in the lab. Yes, I believe he thinks he’s primed to have a good to great year again at age 38, Year 20, right? He is itching to play basketball again.”
LeBron James played only 55 games last season, while sat out for nearly half of the season with stomach issues and injuries. He had a similar problem in the 2021 season, while the Lakers fared badly in both those years. Reflecting on the same Skip added, “I think he does not like what happened last year when he was restricted to playing 55 games by injury. I think he never got right at the end of the year. He never felt right about how it ended. They went 33 and 49.”
“They missed the play in tournament and he knows full well that there’s gonna be a lot of video taken and his body and his skills are gonna be on full display through the weekend. I think he went up there to say hey everybody, look what I’ve been doing…”
Fit LeBron James would be a great sign for Los Angeles Lakers.
17-time NBA Champions struggles in the 2021 and 2022 seasons, even after having a star-studded team at their disposal. The main reason for their bad show was the availability of their superstars. LeBron James and Anthony Davis were nursing their various injuries for nearly half of those seasons. In 2021, the Lakers somehow did manage to play in the postseason but were eliminated in the 1st round by the Suns, while in 2022, the team finished 11th and were out of a play-in situation.
Although the Lakers are coming off a disappointing 2021-22 campaign, there’s still plenty of star power on the roster. One of those names is none other than megastar forward LeBron James. LeBron mostly has been part of playoffs in every team he played for, and is considered to be a very dependable star.
During the previous season’s struggles, LeBron was the only bright spot for the team. 18-time All-Star went on to post an impressive average of 30.3 points per game while shooting 52.4% from the field. Ironically these stats resemble his early days in the league.
Throughout the offseason, James has been active when it comes to his preparations for the 2022-23 season. If the Lakers can stay healthy and get back on the right track, there’s no denying that they have the talent to become a contender in a competitive Western Conference.
