Skip Bayless slams Lebron James
LeBron James has had an illustrious career made out of poster dunks, buzzer beaters and pretty applaud-worthy attacking prowess, yet his short-comings is what Skip Bayless has made a career out off. To say that Skip Bayless is LeBron’s biggest critic would be an understatement. Another episode unfolded before us today as he and Shannon Sharpe discussed the effect these Conference Finals MVP’s would have, if they were presented a decade ago. Skip Bayless believes that Lebron’s NBA Finals appearances aren’t that impressive if you consider his competition.
Skip and Shannon breathed a little after another breathtaking fiasco ending to yet another emphatic Game 7 showdown, this NBA postseason. The Boston Celtics are heading back to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010 after beating the Miami Heat on the road 100-96 in Game 7 Sunday night. Jayson Tatum led the way with 26 points, and Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart added on 24 points apiece as the Celtics move on to play the Golden State Warriors for the championship, beginning with Game 1 on 2nd June.
The Celtics led wire-to-wire, and responded every time the Heat went on a run. Miami went on a late run and cut the deficit to two points, but Boston managed to hang on for the win. Jimmy Butler did most of the offensive work for Miami, finishing with 35 points while playing the entire game, however Butler’s heroics were not enough this time as Boston held their nerve and handed Miami a heartbreaking loss in the Eastern Conference Finals.

“They’re all overrated cakewalks” – Skip Bayless slams Lebron James, says all Finals were a child’s play
Skip Bayless, who has basically made a career out of bashing Lebron James consistently, has yet another grievance against the big man. Despite James having a stellar resume to boast of, Skip believes all his Championships were won because there weren’t any strong opposing teams to beat in the NBA Finals. Lebron has been to 10 NBA Finals, out of which he made 8 straight appearances from 2011 to 2018, if the Conference Finals MVP award was handed out back then, James would have arguably taken home all 10 of them.
This is exactly the case that Shannon Sharpe, Bayless’s Co-host, was making for Lebron James. Shannon went on to describe how these Conference Finals MVP’s would have piled up in James’s resume and given him an edge on Michael Jordan.
“We know for a fact that all of the Eastern Conference Finals, he would have won that award, there’s no question. He would have just swept it, he’d have been a perfect 10-0, we know that everybody knows that” Shannon explained, to which Skip retorted by saying-
“My issue with LeBron is that all of these Conference Finals, especially when it started with the Heat in 2011, they’re all overrated cakewalks because there is no competition here for LeBron and D. Wade and Chris Bosh. Even when LeBron goes back with Kyrie to Cleveland, it’s still overrated cakewalks. The one I’ll give is that first one in 2007” Skip replied.
“To me, LeBron James over the expanse of his career has been the most overprotected and under criticized superstar I have ever encountered.” Skip said these lines a few weeks ago which is testimony to the fact that he is not a fan of King James and his accolades. The teams that James faced weren’t in his control and he could only defeat the competition in front of him. The so called “easy opponent” or “injured opponent” argument is heavily flawed in the playoffs. Discrediting a team’s championship run for this reason is incredibly ignorant, which is Skip Bayless’s natural reaction to any Lebron James achievement.
The Lakers had a drastically poor record of 33-49 , as they move on from this nightmarish season , they will have to make plenty of moves to get back on track. As LeBron gets ready for the upcoming season, the team will have to give him more reinforcements to bring back the legacy of the Lakers. One thing that wont change is Skip Bayless, he will never fail to have a jab at LeBron anytime soon.
