Due to his style of play, Anthony Edwards, the standout player for the Minnesota Timberwolves, has been compared to Michael Jordan on multiple occasions, especially of late. Especially his 32-point performance against the Jazz on Monday night, which included a spectacular dunk over John Collins as the game’s prime point. Chris Broussard just shared a text discussion he had with Jordan in which MJ mentions similarities between Edwards’ style of play and his own.

In contrast to all of these opinions, FS1 analyst Skip Bayless dismissed these parallels with a laugh in the most recent episode of UNDISPUTED. One of the biggest supporters of Michael Jordan‘s legacy in the US media has always been Bayless. He finds that too hilarious to even draw similarities between Anthony Edwards and Jordan even though ‘His Airness’ himself acknowledged ‘Ant.’

The analyst questioned Edwards’ performance against the Denver Nuggets the previous night, in which he scored thirty points in the first three quarters but was unable to score at all in the fourth. Bayless claimed that his comparison with Jordan stopped with his most recent performance, since he would never let such a crucial opportunity pass him by.

Anthony Edwards agrees with Kevin Garnett in comparing him to Michale Jordan

Anthony Edwards has been compared to Michael Jordan on previous occasions as well. It was Patrick Beverley who first linked Edwards to MJ, and a month prior, former Kevin Garnett, made the same connection between Edwards and Jordan. Edwards is strikingly “like a young, ’84 Michael Jordan,” according to Kevin Garnett, who made this comment in one of the KG Certified episodes, where the Wolves’ star finally agreed.

Speaking to Rachel Nichols, Anthony Edwards said:

I think he is right, for sure. '84 Jordan, He didn't say '96, '97. He said '84. he's finding himself. I agree with that.

Though the rookie Jordan would have an advantage over the Timberwolves guard, Edwards isn’t too far from matching Jordan’s averages. His average of 26.7 points and his four straight games with 30 or more points demonstrate his consistency. The Timberwolves, meanwhile, appear to be serious postseason contenders and intend to go far in the forthcoming playoffs.
