Skip Bayless and LeBron James

Skip Bayless took to Twitter to share his 2 cents about the Los Angeles Lakers without their talisman, LeBron James. This came after the Los Angeles Lakers had prevailed in overtime over the Eastern Conference number two seed, the Milwaukee Bucks.

His team announced LeBron James was to miss the blockbuster game against the Bucks as his ankle injury, which he’s been managing for quite a while, was downgraded from doubtful to out. James has been battling injuries as he reaches the closing stage of his career; however, he has stayed healthy this season, appearing in six straight games before sitting out the win against the Bucks.

According to the TV analyst, the Purple and Gold enjoyed playing without him in the win against the Bucks. He also asserted that the team feels freer without him, but not better, as the Lakers fought to the death to win overtime.

In an exciting basketball game, the Los Angeles Lakers triumphed away at the Fiserv Forum in double overtime, 128-124. In the four-time MVP’s absence, power forward Anthony Davis stepped up to notch an impressive double-double of 34 points and 23 rebounds.

Lakers’ strategy to rest LeBron James criticized by Skip Bayless

Before going on X, formerly known as Twitter, to write about how the Lakers play freer without their superstar guard, LeBron James, Skip Bayless, during a recent episode of “Undisputed,” may have contradicted himself. He responded to Paul Pierce during the show, who had earlier informed that the LA Lakers planned to rest LBJ during unwinnable games to keep him fresh and well-prepared for the postseason.

Bayless then questioned the Lakers’ strategy, saying he believed they needed their momentum and should strive to win challenging games against potential title contenders, especially with the team having an unexpected and below-average season. He said:

If you can go in and beat these guys at the top of their game as they start to take off, yes, you could say, 'Hey, have something going here.' This isn't a standard conservative Lakers year. It's been a bizarre up-and-down roller coaster ride of a year, and all of a sudden- the compass is pointing north, and this team still hangs in the ninth spot.

The veteran TV analyst appears to continue his love-hate relationship with James, appearing to call him out most times. However, luckily for the Lakers, their strategy didn’t backfire as they won against the Bucks, and according to Bayless, the team appeared to play with a high level of freedom last night.
