Skip Bayless expressed his disappointment with Reaves’ contract extension in a tweet. Bayless believes that the rising star deserves even more pay and should be given the opportunity to be the Lakers’ closer next season. He stated that if Reaves had been utilized more in the playoffs against the Denver Nuggets, the series could have been much more competitive, potentially resulting in a different outcome.
Reaves’ new contract includes a player option in the fourth season, granting him the ability to enter unrestricted free agency before the 2026-27 season. Additionally, the deal features a 15% trade kicker and the maximum advance allowable.
