“What happen to Chef after he gave a 3-point lead with 6:05 left?” Skip Bayless suggests Stephen Curry ‘shrank’ and ‘disappeared’ amid Celtics fourth quarter takeover in Game 1
Skip Bayless and Stephen Curry
Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors went into the fourth quarter in Game 1 at the Chase Center with more than a 10-point lead. However, the Eastern Conference Champions outscored the home team 40-16 in the fourth quarter to draw first blood after a comfortable 12-point victory to take the upper hand in the NBA Finals. This led to sports media analyst Skip Bayless throwing major shade at the 3-Point King.
To those who missed Game 1 action, Stephen Curry started Game 1 in explicit manner as he knocked an unbelievable tally of six 3-pointers. But as things got heated in the fourth quarter, it wasn’t Jayson Tatum who caused damage to Golden State Warriors but Celtics veteran Al Horford who led from the front in their resilient 17-0 with clutch 3-pointers.
Skip Bayless throws shade at Stephen Curry after Game 1
Bayless called out the Golden State Warriors’ franchise player after the 120-108 loss, “Can somebody please explain what happened to Steph Curry after he gave Golden State a 3-point lead with a little runner with 6:05 left??? HE DIDN’T SCORE ANOTHER POINT. Shades of the 2016 and 2019 Finals. Shrank. Disappeared. Huh???”
Although Stephen Curry scored game-high 34 points and clearly topped Marcus Smart who was expected to keep him quiet, yet with no major help from any other teammate, the Warriors did seem to have dug their own grave in Game 1. Having dropped the first game at home, the Dubs will surely be under pressure to bounce back and chase the series, being the favorites to win the title.
That being said, this isn’t the first time that the 70-year-old analysts has attacked the 3-Point King. Skip Bayless has been criticizing Stephen Curry for shrinking in the game’s biggest moments. He recalled the 2016 NBA Finals when Steve Kerr’s Warriors collapsed after a 3-1 series lead against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Moreover, this particular Fox Sports analyst has also repeatedly mentioned the 2019 championship series between the Warriors and the Toronto Raptors as another of Curry’s failures.
Will the Chef be able to bounce back and shut Bayless up for good in Game 2 on Sunday? Remains to be seen.
