“He is 3000 miles away from being a superstar” Skip Bayless takes dig at Jayson Tatum for making ‘wrong and bad decisions’ vs ultimate Warriors

Skip Bayless and Jayson Tatum

Jayson Tatum has been nothing else than a hero for the Boston Celtics in the 2021-22 season. Ever since he made his debut in the league, Tatum has surely had a roller-coaster ride. But with an inspirational journey so far in the 2022 playoffs, Celtics find themselves against a star-studded Golden State Warriors in the last round. And Skip Bayless has decided to take shots on Celtics’ marquee scorer.

Although Jayson Tatum managed to score team high 28 points in Game 2, where Boston Celtics were ruthless outplayed by Stephen Curry led Warriors. On the same note, Bayless went onto condemn Jayson Tatum for his choices made during the action-packed game and suggested that he is ‘3000 miles away from being a superstar’.

Does Jayson Tatum need to play the team game more?

Certain sections of fans and analysts don’t consider Jayson Tatum a superstar yet. The Boston Celtics forward has had a couple of bad games so far, and that is a big reason why he hasn’t reached superstar status. Tatum has averaged only 20.0 points so far in the finals. His shooting has been inefficient as he’s only made 30.6 percent of his shots.

Talking about the same, sports media personality, Skip Bayless doesn’t consider the Celtics forward a superstar. The biggest reason for this is the poor shooting he’s had so far in the series.

He said, “We are right at 3,000 miles from here [Los Angeles] to Boston. That’s about how close Jayson Tatum is to be my definition of a superstar. He still turns the ball over at a high rate… He is just flat out, wildly careless with the basketball. … He just makes bad choices, bad decisions.

Given that Jayson Tatum is only 24-years-old he has a lot of time at his disposal to chase multiple NBA rings. But to achieve star-like-status, he needs to make it big from a young age. Will he be able to beat Stephen Curry as well and probably make noise with the kind of competition he has outplayed in these playoffs? Or will this hard-fought journey end with Tatum breaking his heart with the ultimate reality check posed by Warriors? Remains to be seen.
