“Luka Doncic is not a Superstar” Skip Bayless trolls Charles Barkley for unnecessarily regarding Luka Doncic as ‘Baby Bird’

Luka Doncic fell prey to The Phoenix Suns and Skip Bayless, as The Dallas Mavericks were outfoxed by The Suns On Game 2 in Arizona. Dallas Mavericks talisman, Luka had a great first half, going for 24 points in Phoenix and letting the fans know about it. You could see Luka going back and forth with those in attendance after many of his buckets as he the tempers flared when the Phoenix Suns took a comfortable 2-0 lead in the series.

While names like Joel Embiid and Giannis Antetokounmpo are finalists in the MVP race, Doncic has silently performing at his very best. Owing to the recent surge from the Mavericks towards the end of the regular season, Doncic’s hard work is finally being appreciated. It’s the first time Dallas has advanced to the postseason’s second round in Doncic’s 4-year NBA career. The Mavericks stayed in the game for a while thanks to Doncic and Maxi Kleber , who hit his first four 3-pointers. The pair helped Dallas fight back and close the gup up to 51-47 midway through the second quarter but the Suns finished the half with another blistering run, going into the break with a 69-56 lead.

“Luka Doncic is not a Superstar”

Skip Bayless cannot finish his analysis without heavily criticizing a player, his usual target is Lebron James but he likes to hop from player to another from time to time. Luka caught his eye and well Skip Bayless does not regard him as a superstar in the NBA. Confronting his co-host ,Shannon Sharpe , on ‘Undisputed: Skip and Shannon’, Skip rebuked Charles Barkley’s comments on Luka Doncic:

“I’m about to launch dramatically about how you and Charles Barkley are overrating Luka Dončić. He is not a superstar by any stretch of the imagination and how dare you call him baby Bird after you grew up loving Larry Joe Bird of the Boston Celtics because they shouldn’t even be in the same breath.

Doncic has often been compared to Celtics legend Larry Bird in terms of his gameplay. Bird was generally a more effective shooter and rebounder at his peak, it is unclear however, how good Luka will be at his peak. He absolutely looks the part of a young all-time great destined for legendary status. But Skip Bayless is a detractor and a contrarian about the majority of superstars irrespective of their popularity. Despite Dončić having 6 games during the regular season with 40+ points and 13 games with 35+. He also has 13 games with 12+ assists. This suggests that he is a very complete offensive player who improves his teammates while scoring at a fantastic rate. Skip continued:

“It’s almost like putting LeBron in the same sentence with Michael Jordan. It’s just straight blasphemy. Luka is actually a triple-threat of a liability. He is a sorry shooter from three and from the free-throw line. Number two, he is a turnover machine. Luka Dončić is a disaster of a defender.”

”We’ll take the win, It’s not always going to be pretty. We played well most of the game. We’ll look at the film tomorrow and see what we need to do differently for Game 2.” Suns point guard Chris Paul said. Doncic led the Mavericks with 35 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists, as the series now moves to Dallas. ”I thought Maxi and Luka in that first half kept us afloat, We could have easily been down 39 at halftime but Maxi and LD were good. LD was good in the second half, too.” Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said.

”We’ve just got to get someone to join the party.” Luka cannot carry Dallas on his own he needs someone to step up and take some weight of his shoulders. Will the Mavericks strike back at home turf or will the Suns shine in Dallas, only time will tell.
