In a recent episode of the All the Smoke podcast legendary rapper Snoop Dogg shared his current top 5 in the NBA. Surprisingly, the lifelong Los Angeles Lakers superfan decided to keep all the players from his favorite team out of his top 5.
His top pick was last season’s NBA Finals MVP Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets, who he holds in extremely high regard. The two-time MVP has been averaging a near triple-double this season (26 points, 12.1 rebounds, 9.1 assists) as his team enjoys the fourth spot in a heavily stacked Western conference. Jokic is also KIA’s favorite MVP candidate through Week 17 of the regular season.
Snoop Dogg expressed surprise for how quickly the Joker rose in his player rankings on All The Smoke
That motherfu**er from the Nuggets, Jokic. Hands down... that n**ga done came out of nowhere and he dont f*ck around. That n**ga right there, him off the tippy.
Besides Jokic, the rapper also included Ja Morant, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Joel Embiid and Anthony Edwards in his top five. This lineup doesn’t have a single player from the Los Angeles Lakers, which is a notable stance from the dedicated fan. Moreover, the exclusion of other superstars such as Luka Doncic, Stephen Curry, Jayson Tatum, Giannis Antetokounmpo, or Domantas Sabonis might raise some eyebrows.
Despite his choices, Snoop acknowledged LeBron James‘ enduring excellence in the league, especially highlighting his impressive stats in his 21st season. Yet, the current level of his top five, according to Snoop, is far better than even ‘The King’. So, he’d like LeBron to come off the bench.
Nikola Jokic becomes the third player in NBA history to record a triple-double against every franchise
On an unforgettable Thursday evening, Nikola Jokic carved his name into the bedrock of NBA history. By notching a triple-double against the Washington Wizards, Jokic has now become one of the only three players in NBA history to record a triple-double against every team he’s played against.
Jokic’s historic night was marked by 21 points, 19 rebounds, and 15 assists as he joined the likes of LeBron and Russell Westbrook for the record. This performance, highlighted by 100% efficiency from the field, led the Denver Nuggets to a decisive 130-110 victory.
Nikola Jokic has 121 career triple-doubles, ranking fourth only behind Westbrook, Oscar Robertson and Magic Johnson. He already has 16 of them in 53 games played this season, which is a good look for his team. The Denver Nuggets could very well go back-to-back this season, hinting at the dawn of a new NBA dynasty.
