Former Charlotte Hornets star and NBA superstar Stephen Curry‘s father, Dell Curry, revealed to the media that he has remarried. This news follows his recent divorce from his wife of nearly 33 years, Sonya Curry, who is also Steph’s mother.

Currently working as a Hornets commentator, Dell had a very private wedding ceremony, and no family photos from the event have been shared. He tied the knot with Nicki Smith more than a year ago. This isn’t surprising, as they were spotted supporting Steph during his 2022 championship quest against the Boston Celtics.

Dell Curry informed the Charlotte Observer that he wasn’t very sure about the decision, but he is content with his life right now. Dell further said on the interview:

I wasn’t going to get married again. But life is great right now. It couldn’t be better. For me, I’m at a great place in my life. My home situation is sound. My kids and their families are doing great. They’re happy for me. I’m happy for them. So life’s good.

Sonya and Dell filed for divorce after 33 years of marriage. They got married in 1988 during Dell’s tenure with the Hornets and had three children together.

Their three children are Steph, Seth, and Sydel. While Steph and Seth are successful NBA stars, following in their father’s footsteps, Sydel is a successful content creator married to NBA player Damion Lee.

Why did Sonya and Dell Curry get divorced?

The 2021 divorce between Dell and Sonya Curry gained much attention, with accusations of adultery flying. Reports suggested that it strained the relationship between Steph and Dell. However, they reconciled, sharing a hug after Steph’s fourth championship win.

Dell and Sonya had a pretty rough divorce which had their two sons also growing apart to an extent. Furthermore, it went as far as Steph reaching out to Seth to tell him that they were still brothers. Also, to tell him that he cared about him. Both Dell and Sonya have been in relationships since divorce, and the Curry family seems to be happy.
