“When LeBron James was coming out, that was special” – Stephen A. Smith ANNOYED with Victor Wembanyama’s hype
Stephen A. Smith not convinced by the media that Victor Wembanyama is on par with the hype that he is garnering

The NBA Draft is on Thursday and will feature generational talents with the like of Victor Wembanyama and Scoot Henderson garnering an insane amount of hype entering the draft.
Victor Wembanyama is heading into the draft projected to be the First overall pick with the San Antonio Spurs taking him with their selection. The French big man is dubbed to have an ‘Alien’ status heading in the NBA draft as he has been garnering media attention for the last two years with some claiming him to be the prospect with the most hype eclipsing that of LeBron James‘ when he was also a prospect.
Stephen A. Smith however is tired of the insane coverage that Wemby is getting: “Not even close, and it has nothing to do with his skillset. I believe in him, I believe he’s going to be a good if not a great player I get it. I’m just so annoyed like he dunks in warmups or something and people are losing it, he’s 7 foot 5 for crying out loud. Now I know he can handle, he can shoot, he’s got skills, I cant wait to see him on the NBA level, but I am just tired. I’m tired of the fawning.”
Contrary to Smith’s take on Wemby, the 7-foot-4 French player has a wingspan and body frame of the league’s best centres all while possessing the skills of a shifty point guard with a three-ball also in his arsenal at his disposal.
As much of the hype Wemby is getting, Stephen A. is just not ready to compare him to the likes of LeBron James but nevertheless, Wembanyama with the Spurs have the potential to be one of the best players to ever play the game.

Victor Wembanyama to make his DEBUT in the Summer League

Victor Wembanyama is heading into the NBA draft without much contention to his spot of being drafted the No.1 overall pick which automatically makes him a franchise player for the San Antonio Spurs. The French 7-footer was expected to make his debut in the NBA regular season as he just came out of a Finals loss in the LNB Pro A league where his team the Metropolitans 92 succumb to Monaco in Game 3.
Wembanyama was originally expected to sit out for the 2023 NBA Summer League but the 7’4 foot big man has a change of heart and will be headed to Sacramento or Los Angeles to participate in the NBA Summer League exhibition games. This might be Wembanyama’s way of responding to the doubters and other NBA teams who might be in doubt of the massive hype that he is garnering as the big man has already proved to be able to hang with the top guns in the big leagues.
Wembanyama will be under the guidance of Coach Gregg Popovich and the public eyes on the pair to chalk up one last title run with the Spurs before Popovich retires from coaching.
