“KD is one of the greatest scorers in the history of basketball” Stephen A. Smith believes another championship for Stephen Curry won’t make him better than Kevin Durant
Kevin Durant, Stephen A. Smith and Stephen Curry
Stephen A. Smith is the most straightforward and brutally honest analyst the television has seen and he has proved it many times as he isn’t afraid of anyone when he says what he wants to. He has always welcomed controversies throughout his career. Recently, Stephen A. Smith made it to the headlines as he shut-downed the comparison between Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant. Which is based on a more successful resume and is started by many around the league. As the Golden State Warriors have advanced to the NBA Finals and Stephen Curry can get his hands on his first FMVP trophy and fourth championship. While Kevin Durant who has 2 FMVPs and 2 championships got swept in the first round itself. Many believe that if the Warriors under the leadership of Stephen Curry won the championship he’ll be better and ahead of Kevin Durant in comparison. But the analyst strongly disagrees.
Stephen A. Smith starting off with his rally of words ranked Stephen Curry ahead of Moses Malone and Dr. J as he has three championships and called out the Chef as the greatest shooter of all time. But when his fellow crew at TD Garden before the Celtics and Heat started to battle out asked him if Steph win the title does he moves ahead of Kevin Durant. Stephen A. Smith replied to it with emotions and quoted: “No, not as a player in resume yes but as a player no. Kevin Durant is one of the greatest scorers in the history of Basketball and when he was on Golden State with Steph Curry even though it was Steph Curry’s team… Everybody knew that Kevin Durant was better than Stephen Curry.”
Jalen Rose though disagreed with Stephen A. Smith as he believes Stephen Curry winning the championship and FMVP this year will rank him ahead of Kevin Durant. Stephen A. Smith though challenged this belief of Jalen Rose and quoted: “You are not giving enough credit to Kevin Durant’s defense he’s just not an elite scorer. He’s actually become an elite defender. If you wanna knock Kevin Durant for anything Steph Curry is a way better executive than Kevin Durant because Steph Curry knows how to choose the players to be around him and Kevin Durant clearly struggles in the category.” His last sentence was probably a taunt-like statement for Ben Simmons and Kyrie Irving.

Stephen A. Smith believes Kevin Durant will be a better player compared to Stephen Curry even if the Warriors lifted him up for 5-6 titles
Another commentator from the crew discussing the comparison suggested another narrative to build around and quoted: “Stephen Curry has done something the other greats didn’t do… changed the way the game is played and the culture…He got few more years you got him winning two anyways. If Steph Curry goes to five or six titles… the Warriors have a chance to lift Steph Curry higher and above.” Stephen A. Smith furiously replying to it quoted: “I get you but we are talking about Kevin Durant… Kevin Durant is six-eleven with a 7 foot 6-inch wingspan who can shoot from three, midrange, and can finish in the open court and play defense I understand but we are talking about Kevin Durant be very careful be very careful.”
Stephen A. Smith just made it clear that he will ride Kevin Durant’s bus no matter what Stephen Curry achieves. As KD will always be a better player for him compared to Stephen Curry probably on individual skills. As in terms of resume, the Chef can cook him up. But Stephen A. Smith’s take is also not wrong as KD is really an incredibly talented player but with just less success so him getting ranked below because of championships can be unfair.
