Stephen A. Smith seems to have revealed the reason behind his fulmination. He said, “There is not a single athlete who can ever approach me that says they looked at me and I wished for them to fail. … And if I see cats getting in their own way, it affects me. He mentioned, “Because I’m like, ‘You know the game, you know the system, you know how it’s gonna come at you, you know where the minefields are, you know what the pitfalls are, you know what’s going down, maneuver your way around this. Don’t let them get you!’ He further added, “Pay attention! Stop being mad at my words, pay attention to what I’m saying ‘cause I’m looking out. I’m not gonna be in a position where I can look out if you let this go any further.”

Every time when Stephen A. Smith has commented on national TV, he has received strong backlash from star players such as Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. However, someone like Ben Simmons stayed quiet after getting mocked by Stephen A. Smith earlier this year. The ESPN sports analyst is known as one of the entertainment world’s most stunning talents and his inputs are welcomed by someone who feels it is useful for them in any way. Others just decide to move past it. But sometimes his comments seem to hurt the sentiments of the ones involved.

Late Kobe Bryant has a legacy left behind him in the NBA league. Every Lakers fan when asked about their favorite player talks about Kobe. He makes it to the top 5 players list of every individual. But same is not the case with sports analyst Stephen A. Smith. His list includes Smith included Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Russell, and finally Magic Johnson. When asked where is Kobe, he said that Michael Johnson and Kobe played at the same position and hence for him MJ is a better player. He terms Kobe as a better individual talent and better than Magic, but Johnson’s ability to ensure that his teammates get ball time to time is something which Kobe doesn’t look for.
