The post-season tends to get very heated at times during crucial moments. The Golden State Warriors vs Memphis Grizzlies has turned into one of the most intense series that this year’s playoffs may witness. What looked like a battle between two eras of the league quickly transitioned into a bar brawl following Game 1.
The series opener was snatched by the Warriors holding onto tight defense stopping the Grizzlies from getting past them. Ja Morant missed a very close layup during the final seconds of the game costing his team leverage by one point. During the game, fans witnessed a very usual call after Draymond accidentally committed a hard foul. Soon players of each side started firing at each other over social media. This made the atmosphere even more toxic between both teams.
Golden State Warriors vs Memphis Grizzlies Game 2 Recap
After an unfortunate loss in Game 1, the Grizzlies bounced right back and defeated the Warriors 106-101. Morant led the team with 47 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists scoring 15 points towards the final 4 minutes of the game. “That loss was on my mind a lot, obviously missing that layup late. But coming into today I told myself we needed a win, and we were going to get a win. I just took it upon myself to go out there and do that for us,” said the newly crowned Most Improved Player of the Year.
For the Warriors, Stephen Curry scored 27 points with shooting 11-25 from the field including 3 three-pointers. Jordan Poole worked his offensive prowess with 20 points coming off the bench. Two key members of the team were injured as Draymond Green sustained a cut on his right eye. The player managed to play the game but Gary Payton II was not able to after taking a hard fall to the ground while being blocked by Dillon Brooks.
Stephen A Smith reacts to Dillon Brooks ending GP II’s season with a scary block
Dillion Brooks is not usually a very dirty player. He is one of the most important players on the roster and surely an intentional foul as such is impossible from him. “Dillion Brooks broke the code, that’s how I see it,” said Dubs Head Coach Steve Kerr who described that the entire roster was not happy over the events that occurred during this series. Brooks was ejected with 9 minutes left in the very first quarter.
Stephen A Smith reacted to the incident on Twitter saying, “I feel terrible for Gary Payton II. He’s so damn important for the @warriors squad. As for Dillion Brooks, he’s no dirty player, I won’t say that. But I agree with Steve Kerr that he was very irresponsible. Very!” The X-Ray results of Payton show that he has suffered a broken left elbow after being hit on the head and taking a nasty fall. An MRI is scheduled for the player on Wednesday, and he will most likely remain out for the rest of the season.
