“Bron has lied to the American public” Stephen A. Smith labelled Lakers star LeBron James as a ‘BIG-TIME’ hypocrite

Stephen A. Smith and LeBron James
While LeBron James has found plenty of critics in many veteran analysts, Stephen A. Smith is surely not one amongst them. The latter has often appreciated the Los Angeles Lakers star but in January 2021, he could not help but point out the lie told by the 37-year-old veteran on an episode of First Take.

To turn back the pages of history, LeBron James had just dropped season-best 34 points, LeBron James was asked about the feeling to beat Giannis, after the latter had outraced him for the season’s MVP previously. Bron said, “I think all you guys know me, it’s never been about individual, it’s all about the team’s success. That’s all that matters. I can care less about that (outplaying Giannis). I try to play well and help our team win against any team.”
LeBron James labelled as a hypocrite by Stephen A. Smith

Stephen A went after Bron on morning’s episode of First Take for being fake, “I think that LeBron stood in front of the cameras last night and lied to the American public, and anybody else who was listening. But I’m not knocking him for it. I think that, listen, LeBron wouldn’t be as great as he is if all he thought about was the outcome for the team.
“When LeBron sits up there and goes in for a layup and gets an and-1 and flexes his muscle, is that about the team? When he sits up there and dunks on somebody and screams at the crowd, is that about the team? Nobody’s accusing him of caring about his individual accolades more than the team. No, he’s proven that he’s unselfish on that level.”

While many thought LeBron James could have won his 5th MVP accolade in 2020, it was Giannis Antetokounmpo who blatantly defeated the King. Although the likes of Kyle Kuzma and Anthony Davis were quick to blame the media for their choice, yet it was the Greek Freak who managed to climb in the column of the greats with 2 MVP awards registered against his name.
