Stephen A Smith on Ja Morant

Bang, Bang, Bang. This was the only sound out of Chase Centre as the ‘Lethal 3’ had their shooting boots on, outfoxing the Memphis Grizzlies led by Ja Morant in Game 3. Splash Brothers has gone from being a terrific trinity from the dynamic duo as Jordan Poole compliments Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. The trio just couldn’t miss and led the Warriors to an emphatic 142-112 victory over the Grizzlies, taking a 2-1 lead of the series. Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant limped off the court during Memphis’ Game 3 loss after Warriors guard Jordan Poole clutched Morant’s knee as he was dribbling the ball.

In a physically demanding game where where a player was injured, while someone else was ejected from the game, this has been the story of every game in the series so far. Morant re-injured his troublesome right knee late in the game when Jordan Poole grabbed it as they fought for a loose ball late in the game.

Steph Curry was the spearhead of the Warriors offense with 30 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the floor with six assists and two rebounds in 35 minutes. Jordan Poole added 27 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the floor with four boards and two assists in 31 minutes off the bench.

Ja Morant has been monumental for The Memphis Grizzlies this season, The Most Improved Player has been impactful in clutch moments for the team. However could this injury shatter the hopes of Grizzlies getting past the Warriors. Morant left Chase Center without speaking to reporters but posted and later deleted a video of the play on his Twitter feed with the words ”broke the code,” a reference Warriors coach Steve Kerr had used five days earlier when Dillon Brooks’ hard foul in Game 2 sidelined Gary Payton II.

Stephen A. Smith, the much renowned analyst on ESPN’s talk show ‘First Take’ explained how the Grizzlies can be in deep trouble now, with the Warriors ‘Lethal 3’.

“Jordan Poole, this young brother is something special, he is something special and he’s more like Steph Curry than Klay. His movement without the ball his ball, handling skills, his ability to use those skills to get to the basket and the range with which he pulls up from now that mirrors both Klay and Steph but Klay don’t handle the ball like that okay and so when I look at it from that perspective I just say I got a nickname for them Frank Isola, it’s Lethal Weapon Three”. Stephen believes that Jordan Poole could be one of the brighest talents in the NBA and together with Curry and Klay, he is only going to get better.

Stephen Curry quietly led the Warriors with 30 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the floor with six assists and two rebounds in 35 minutes. Jordan Poole added 27 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the floor with four boards and two assists in 31 minutes off the bench.

Its all to play for in Game 4, as the chirping continues off court. Ja will be looking to recover soon and possible be back at the earliest for the Grizzlies, because if the Warriors pay like they did today, they are in deep trouble. Will the Splash Brothers assert their authority or will the young guns from Memphis fight their way back? the series continues to deliver !
