Los Angeles Lakers leads (3-2) the western conference semifinal series against Golden State Warriors, but sports analyst Stephen A. Smith believes that the Warriors could still force a Game 7 and potentially win the series if Draymond Green continues to play the way he did in their recent game.

In a recent episode of ESPN’s “First Take,” Smith shared his thoughts on the future of the series, citing Green’s leadership and performance as key factors in the Warriors’ potential success.

“Draymond Green…sets a tone. The dude is made for these moments right here,” Smith said. “He was as serious and as focused as I’ve seen him in years last night…If he continues to play that way and you got cats that are going to hit shots…we gonna have a game seven back at the Chase Center in San Francisco.

Smith also praised Green’s contributions to the team beyond the box score, such as drawing charges, contesting shots, and setting screens. “All of these things…the analytic dudes pay attention to thinking nobody knows it but them…the fact of the matter is that Draymond Green is doing his thing right now,” Smith said.

However, Smith acknowledged that the Lakers pose a formidable challenge, especially if Anthony Davis is healthy and playing at his best. “I think the Lakers could beat anybody when they’re on their game…it just depends are they going to be on that game, is Anthony Davis going to play…these are legitimate questions right now,”

Smith also noted the Warriors’ reliance on energy and defense, particularly with the decision to start Gary Payton II. Despite his optimism for the Warriors, Smith stopped short of declaring them the definitive winners of the series.

Energy and defense…you want to start the game that way, you want to close that way,” Smith said.“I’m not going to sit up there and say definitively they’re going to win this series because I don’t think the Lakers are a joke.”

Fans will have to wait and watch whether Green and the Warriors can live up to Smith’s expectations and force a Game 7 or if the Lakers will win the series outright and move on to the Western Conference Finals.
