Stephen A Smith and Joel Embiid
Joel Embiid did not win the Most Valuable Player of the Year award nor did he win Game 5 of the second-round series against the Miami Heat. The Philadelphia 76ers were very underwhelming finished at 85-120. They were outscored by their opponents in every quarter and shot very poorly from the field at 36.5% and 28.1% from deep.

Embiid led the 76ers with 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists. James Harden has not been reliable for the Sixers during the playoffs having experienced an awkward slump. He finished with 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. It is starting to look very concerning for the former MVP as his team is slowly declining.

Doc Rivers, head coach of the Sixers spoke about the unfortunate bashing they received last night saying, “They were just more physical. We didn’t run anything. We didn’t run our stuff very well. We played at a snail’s pace… everything they did tonight was harder and better. Their stuff was better, their energy was better.”
Seven players on the Heat’s roster scored in double figures led by Jimmy Butler who had 23 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. Victor Oladipo has been a huge asset for the team on offense and defense coming off the bench, he finished with 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists on 18 minutes of court time. Joel Embiid kept his reaction very short and simple on the loss saying, “Tonight, we weren’t focused enough.”

Stephen A Smith, who had voted for Joel Embiid for the MVP award took to Twitter to express his disappointment over the literal effortless game played by the Sixers. He said, “This is one of the most awful performances I’ve seen the @sixers put forth in a long time. No effort whatsoever, from start to finish. Look like they just laid down, rolled over, and said ‘We’ve got Game 6 on Thursday.’ Guess overnight stay in Miami.”
That was not the end of his rant however, he continued to call out former now, former MVP candidate for his lack of effort on offense. “Or… was it that @JoelEmbiid was pissed over not getting league-MVP Honors. Hey! He got my vote. But it wasn’t like it went to some scrub. It went to Jokic who Embiid respects. You’ve just got to have more fight than we saw tonight,” he said. Embiid is coming fresh off an injury that took place during the closer against the Toronto Raptors. It might have been the reason why he was not able to perform at all.
