With Los Angeles Lakers finally settling in on a new coaching candidate, they have decided Darvin Ham to finally lead the purple and gold army in the 2022-23 season. With LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook among other stars in the team already enduring one of their worst-ever seasons, Stephen A. Smith believes that if the 2 marquee scorers can keep themselves fit, the rest of the league should be afraid of the wrath coming their way.
There is no doubt in the potential of Los Angeles Lakers stars – especially, LeBron James and Anthony Davis who have already delivered a championship back in 2020. Moreover, the veteran sports media analyst suggested that both LeBron James and Anthony Davis’ health would be key in determining the success rate of Darvin Ham’s first Head Coaching stint.
Can Darvin Ham change the fortune for LA Lakers?
Speaking of Darvin Ham’s appointment on “The Rich Eisen show,” Smith said that, “I think their staff is going to be pretty strong and I think that’s gonna help them overcome a lot of maladies from the last season.
“I don’t really have a problem with their coaching staff. I have an issue with their roster. Anthony Davis, you don’t know how healthy he’s gonna be. Russell Westbrook doesn’t appear to be the ideal fit for them and as a result, they need to make some moves.”
That being said, with the roster being set once again around LeBron, it will be interesting to see how coach Darvin Ham helps him return to his best. The former Milwaukee Bucks’ employee had some great words for the former MVP in his introductory press conference. He made it abundantly clear that Russ was part of his plans for the Los Angeles Lakers. Will we finally witness the rise of one of the most celebrated teams in the league. Or is Darvin going to be just another victim of the team’s struggles? Remains to be seen.
