Former Phoenix Suns MVP Charles Barkley has always had outrageous takes, one of which was on Kevin Durant’s role in the Warriors dynasty. While some agreed with the former, Stephen A. Smith surely supported the Brooklyn Nets star for clapping back at his critic.

Golden State Warriors winning the 2022 NBA Title went well in the Bay Area. but one particular player got toasted because of the Championship triumph. In the 2017-18 seasons, Kevin Durant and Golden State Warriors dominated the league and playoffs with some flare. The team won the NBA Finals with ease, losing just 1 game in 9 encounters. Member of NBA’s 75th Anniversary team Charles Barkley seems to have a problem with Durant’s rings. But to be fair to KD, he was an impactful player on the team and made a difference in every game. Barkley never won a championship, but he seems to be salty that KD is more successful than he ever was.

Kevin Durant deserves more respect – his championships were earned like every other one – he was not just a bystander said, Stephen A Smith. TV Sports personalities Stephen A. Smith and JJ Redick have been on this debate for three straight days now, and both the analysts think each person was correct in their own right. Former Clipper man JJ thinks Durant needs to be respected more. But he does not agree with the “Money” part discussed in the feud. Smith also felt the same way, which is unusual for a man with such polarizing opinions.

Barkley explained the reasons why nets star Durant will only be given his due respect from the “old heads” when he wins a championship as the “bus driver.” He also gave examples of Laker greats LeBron James and Kobe Bryant winning titles as leaders. On ESPN’s “First Take,” Smith weighed in on the ongoing feud. He dissected both opinions and said that he has no problem with the approach both men have taken. But then Smith added that he is not comfortable with KD bringing up money.

SAS said, “I don’t have a problem with Barkley’s comments and I don’t have a problem with Kevin Durant clapping back at him. I think it’s perfectly within Kevin Durant’s right to clap back. He is a two-time champion. He is a two-time NBA Finals MVP.”

“I think when healthy, he is the greatest player on the planet. And the fact of the matter is that he has more hardware on his resume than Charles Barkley does, that’s just a fact. But, when he brings up the cash, it’s not about the cash. So, why bring that up? I don’t understand that.” He further added.

The reference to “Money” was not clear to most people. Still, Stephen A Smith sided with KD’s on-court achievements. He said, “I don’t think he should have brought up the money in regards to that, but I do think that he should have clapped back. But I also think that it is important to understand what Charles Barkley was trying to say, because Barkley wasn’t lying about what people will say.”

In reality, Smith and Durant have had their fair share of clashes on social media. However, the ESPN analyst still thinks KD is one of the greatest players on the planet, and always praised him for impactful plays.
