The controversy surrounding Donovan Mitchell‘s future at Utah Jazz will continue throughout the summer, as clubs try to rush in for the dissatisfied All-Star. The Jazz may be looking down the barrel of a rebuild with head coach Quin Snyder on his way out and their two stars Mitchell and Rudy Gobert no longer sees one another. Stephen A. Smith is a big supporter of the New York Knicks, but he believes that Utah Jazz star might be better suited on another franchise.

Knicks making moves this offseason?

The New York Knicks, who have been gathering trade assets in the hopes of making a move like this to put them back into championship contention, have been one of the most talked trade destinations for Donovan Mitchell. Mitchell was a first-round selection by the Knicks in 2017, but they went with Frank Ntilikina instead. The new front office of the Knicks, directed by Leon Rose and William Wesley, has done an excellent job of assembling this roster, which includes RJ Barrett and Julius Randle. Even if the Knicks had to trade with Randle, acquiring Mitchell will give the Knicks a much more formidable threat in the East, especially when combined with Barrett and any additional players they can bring in.

“The reality of the situation is that the New York Knicks are an organization not even worthy of Donovan Mitchell. I am a native New Yorker, I am a die-hard New York Knicks fan and I know there is a slim to zero chance they get him.” Smith stated in the talk show ‘First Take’. It’s difficult not to sympathize with Stephen A. Smith’s dissatisfaction with the Knicks. In 2020-21, they appeared to be on the rise, but in 2021-22, they reverted to their losing ways and even failed to enter the playoffs.

Mitchell’s departure from Utah?

Donovan Mitchell has recently been linked to the Knicks, with the team apparently “evaluating” his scenario in Utah, particularly following Quin Snyder’s departure. Mitchell, who has played at the Utah Jazz Jazz for his entire five-year career, will be a familiar face throughout the summer in New York. Mitchell just finished the first year of a five-year, $163 million contract, in which he was nominated to his third All-Star squad in a row. Mitchell’s relationship with teammate All-Star Rudy Gobert had also been questioned, as has their ability to lead the Jazz into another playoffs.
