Stephen A Smith reminds the Golden State Warriors of the nightmare they had to face as they lost the 2016 NBA Finals with a healthy 3-1 lead in the series. It was Draymond’s ejection in game 4 and subsequent suspension in game 5 that made the Warriors a bit vulnerable, and also charged up LeBron James led Cleveland Cavaliers.

Smith said“If I’m Steve Kerr, I’m going to sit Draymond down and I’m going to go like this – ‘I know what you do, do you really want to find yourself in a position where this could potentially cost us a title? Because we believe it cost us a title when you got suspended years ago, 2016 against LeBron James and those boys. Do you want that to happen again?’ At the end of the day, this is the Finals and the Boston Celtics are no joke. They cannot afford to lose Draymond Green.”

Green had already picked up a technical foul in 1st half of the game, tangling against grant Williams – and 2nd technical would have sent him packing for the day. Also in total Green currently has 4 technical fouls this postseason, as per rules, if a player reached the count of 7 technical fouls – he will be automatically suspended for the next game – just like in 2016.

In the 2022 season also, Draymond Green’s performances have been quite impressive. His impact on the game can be seen on the floor and among opponents also. His defensive prowess and playmaking ability set the tone for Golden State Warriors. The likes of sharpshooters like Curry get so, and Thompson, Poole, and Wiggins get benefitted from Green operating the offensive duty. Versatile Draymond can play as a center as well as a forward, allowing Steve Kerr various combinations on the floor.

Defensively he can guard MVP Nikola Jokic near the rim and Brunson or Doncic on the perimeter. He has quick hands and incredible footwork, making him defensive player of the year once and earning him an All-NBA Defensive team selection.

While Green’s hustle plays are very vital in the game, his constant vocal presence also makes team confident. His ability to get the crowd into the game adds another dimension to the game and the overall impact certainly favors Golden State Warriors

So when Draymond is a very vital piece of the Warriors’ dynasty – Stephen A Smith’s advice can’t be ignored. The Series moves to Boston for games 3 and 4; Green needs to be cautious playing on the opponent’s turf.
