Stephen A. Smith recently returned back to ESPN’s “First Take” in fashion wearing an orange suit and riding a boat on the Hudson River. He was back after six weeks as he was on a vacation and recovering from a shoulder injury. But his return had to be a grand one as everyone was waiting for him. So Stephen A. Smith brought some much-needed and shocking updates on Ben Simmons. He was talking about the Brooklyn Nets and targeting the Kevin Durant situation when he out of nowhere dropped the news of him running into Ben Simmons and they having a great chat about the forward’s health and future in the league.

Ben Simmons hasn’t suited up in a professional NBA game since June 20, 2021 (Game 7 Sixers-Hawks second round of the playoffs). He parted ways with the Philadelphia 76ers with just hours remaining for the trade deadline and got exchanged in a package for James Harden. He was supposed to suit up with the Kevin Durant-led Brooklyn Nets in the postseason but the team got bounced out and swept by the Celtics in just four games. Also, Simmons got limited to not play for months due to mental health issues and a back surgery.

But now Ben is all set to make a return for the Nets as he had a very positive conversation with Stephen A. Smith. As on the show, Smith talking about the star forwarded quoted: “I ran into Ben Simmons he and I had a nice conversation. His personal business is his personal business. I support the brother. I had a problem with him not playing that’s the past. He is ready to go. He swears he is ready to go. I am rooting for the brother.” Now he’s even on good terms with the analyst who hated him the most for sitting out so a return full of revenge should be expected by the former Rookie of the Year who has got a lot of mouths to be shut.

Ben without a doubt will be the starting guard for the team and add up on the defensive end where the team has lacked behind for the past two years. His size will also allow him to take up the post and lock up the rival stars. Offensively, he can be a great playmaker and run the scoring system through Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. With KD requesting a trade and also throwing an ultimatum to the franchise in a meeting with owner Joe Tsai of either riding with him or the head coach Steve Nash and General Manager Sean Marks. The responsibilities on Ben Simmons now will be more than ever. As if KD stays and the team’s big three is able to build good chemistry they can win the east and will surely have a deep playoffs run.
