Stephen Curry was on fire on Sunday night. The Golden State Warriors star scored a career-high 50 points in a Game 7 victory over the Sacramento Kings, advancing his team to the Western Conference Semifinals to face the Los Angeles Lakers. He shot 20-of-38 from the field, including 7-of-18 from beyond the arc, and added seven rebounds and five assists.
Curry’s performance was not only historic, but also motivational. His teammate and team’s defensive anchor Draymond Green revealed that Curry gave a powerful pregame speech that inspired the Warriors to play with intensity and poise.
“He gave such a powerful message,” Green said on his podcast after the game. “It was amazing.” Green said that Curry reminded the Warriors of their championship DNA and their resilience. He also told them to embrace the moment and have fun.
Green said that he was not shocked by Curry’s 50-point masterpiece, as he has witnessed him do incredible things on the court for years. He called it a “GOAT performance” and praised Curry for his leadership and greatness. “When he delivered that speech, I can’t say I knew he was gonna come out and get 50,” Green said. “But I knew he was gonna come out and do something incredible. And I knew there was no way he was gonna allow us to lose that game.“

Stephen Curry’s GOAT performance
Green said that Curry has taken his game to another level this season. He said that Curry has carried the Warriors on his shoulders and has proven himself as one of the best players in NBA history.
“I’m honored to have been there and been a part of that,” Green said. “He’s the greatest shooter of all time, but he’s also so much more than that. He’s a leader, he’s a winner, he’s a competitor, he’s a clutch player, he’s a playmaker, he’s a scorer, he’s everything you want in a basketball player.”
“He’s having one of the best seasons ever,” Green said. “He’s averaging 32 points per game on 50-40-90 shooting splits. He’s breaking records left and right. He’s leading us to the best record in the league. He’s doing it all by himself. He doesn’t have another All-Star on his team. He doesn’t have another superstar on his team. He doesn’t have another scorer on his team. He has us. And he makes us better every night.”
Green said that he is proud to be Curry’s teammate and friend and that he hopes to win another championship with him this year. “He’s my brother,” Green said. “I love him. I respect him. I admire him. I appreciate him. And I’m going to do everything I can to help him achieve his goals.”
