Despite his outstanding performance, which saw him score 60 points, Stephen Curry’s team could not win. Last Saturday, the Golden State Warriors, his team, were tied with the Atlanta Hawks in overtime, losing 141-134. Curry had 38 attempts, but he only managed to make 22 baskets, including 10 spectacular three-pointers. This is not the only mark he attained. He has also triumphed over Wilt Chamberlain, the legend.

It’s clear that he’s not slowing down as he gets older—the game was his second 60-point game and his 14th 50-point outing overall. With this incredible performance, Stephen Curry has earned recognition for shattering numerous records. Among them is that, he has surpassed Wilt Chamberlain for the 50-point games played after turning 30.

Wilt Chamberlain had seven games after 30, where he scored 50 points or more. While Stephen Curry passed The Big Dipper, he also holds the record for most points (433), having played eight games. Damian Lillard is the only competitor still standing with six games played, and he is deserving of at least tying the record, if not breaking it.

Curry is only the second NBA player ever to score 60 points at the age of 35 or older, with Kobe Bryant being the only other person to achieve the accomplishment, a reporter noted during the post-game press conference. In 2016, Bryant, then 37 years old, scored 60 points in his final NBA game.

Curry became one of the unique group of All-Star reserves a few weeks ago, along with Devin Booker and Karl-Anthony Towns, who each had personal bests of 60 points but were still losing. However, surpassing legendary records such of Wilt Chamberlain is no laughing matter. The only player with more records than anybody else, such as scoring 100 points in a game or having 72 NBA records, is Chamberlain.

For every player, surpassing Chamberlain in any record is among the pinnacles of their career accomplishments. They are tagging Curry as the GOAT. Scroll down to see the responses:

The Warriors’ record now stands at 21-25 for the season after the loss, and they are currently in 12th place in the Western Conference. Curry’s incredible scoring ability isn’t something the Warriors can rely on every night, so it’s obvious that Golden State needs to make some changes if they want to make it to the playoffs.
