The defending champs, Golden State Warriors, finally get past the Sacramento Kings after seven games. The series had been a roller coaster for both teams. The Kings looked formidable offensively, though after taking a 2-0 series lead, they couldn’t hold the Dubs off. The Warriors would bounce back and win three games in a row, only to let the Kings force a Game 7.
Stephen Curry was an absolute force during the whole series. Moreover, in Game 7, Curry unlocked his MVP mode. The Kings fought off the Dubs until the second quarter, finishing the half leading by two. Going into the second half, the Warriors wouldn’t let the Kings breathe, finishing the third quarter with an 11-point lead. The Dubs then outscored the Kings again in the fourth to close out the series, 120-100.
The game was centered on Stephen Curry who scored 50 points, breaking the record for most points scored in a Game 7. Not only that, but Steph also went 20 of 38 from the field and made seven threes. Curry, arguably the greatest shooter of all time, stepped up big time in Game 7. Steph averaged 33 points in this series. Though the former Finals MVP struggled in the first two games, he definitely got his touch back when needed the most. His great performance had the Kings fans in shock.
The arena wasn’t happy at all, as they chanted, ‘Let’s Go Lakers.’ The Warriors will play the Los Angeles Lakers in the next round, as the Sactown fans hope for the Dubs’ loss. For the Kings, De’Aaron Fox scored just 16 points in this crucial game while shooting 26% from the field. Kings could not step it up in Game 7 at all. Curry, on the other hand, delivered a masterpiece and memorable performance.

Stephen Curry lit the beam
As the Warriors dominated the Kings, Stephen Curry certainly “lit the beam.” The Kings had their first playoff appearance since 2004, and after taking the first two games, the fans chanted “Light the Beam.” Curry had to return the favor, as he yelled the same in the middle of the game. The Warriors definitely showed up, as they still have a chance to contend for a title.
The Dubs will now face the Lakers in the Western Conference Semi-Finals. So far, both teams have never met in the postseason since LeBron James’ arrival. They did face each other in the 2021 Play-In tournament, where the Warriors took a hard loss. LeBron James will take on his old rival team with his new squad. Interestingly, both teams have won a championship in the last three years, though they have never met in the playoffs. It will be interesting to see what the Warriors have in store for Los Angeles.
