Stephen Curry and Steve Kerr slam the senators
The Warriors Head Coach, Steve Kerr and his ace player Stephen Curry were dumbfound as sank in Golden State and Dallas prior to Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals, due to a tragic shooting taking place in Texas. Steve Kerr’s pregame press conference had nothing to do with basketball ahead of Game 4 of the Western Conference finals between the Warriors and Mavericks on Tuesday, as he couldn’t hold back his emotions, following such a traumatizing turn of events in Uvalde, Texas. Stephen Curry, the Warriors talisman, supported his coach’s comments and offered to take up the challenge to make things better.
Game 4 had a looming sense of despair all around the stadium, as everyone mourned the the loss of 19 children’s lives and 2 teachers as well, in a traumatic shooting at at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. Doncic had 30 points and 14 rebounds, and the Mavericks beat Golden State 119-109 in Game 4 on Tuesday night, when there was a 16-minute rain delay at the start of the second half and the Warriors cut a 29-point deficit down to single digits late.
It was a performance to forget for the Warriors, though their fourth-quarter flurry makes some of the overall stats look decent. Stephen Curry had a team-high of 20 points, but was off-radar tonight, shooting just 7 of 16 from the field. Jonathan Kuminga was a bright spot in defeat with 17 points and 8 rebounds.
“I can’t even imagine the pain” – Stephen Curry
Kerr, who has consistently spoken out about gun violence in America and campaigned for gun control, was visibly shaking and on the verge of tears at times during his address to the media on Tuesday. During the pre-game conference before Game 4 in Dallas, Kerr slammed the Senators and condemned various crimes that have left people all over the globe shaken to their core.
“I’m not going to talk about basketball. Nothing’s happened with our team in the last six hours. We’re going to start the same way tonight. Any basketball questions don’t matter. ” Kerr started with a shaky voice.
“Since we left shootaround, 14 children were killed 400 miles from here. And a teacher. In the last 10 days, we’ve had elderly Black people killed in a supermarket in Buffalo, we’ve had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California. Now we have children murdered at school.” Steve was visibly in emotional distress and let his voice be heard, amidst the chaos that has engulfed everyone’s hearts.
The death toll has since risen to at least 19 children and two adults, according to a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety. The 18-year-old suspect, a student at Uvalde High School who entered the elementary school with a handgun and possibly a rifle, is also dead, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said. Stephen Curry backed his coach’s words, sparing no mercy to the Senators, and the disastrous prevailing laws in America relating to possession of arms and ammunition.
“I appreciate his leadership. It was on everybody’s mind coming into the game. Just kind of hard to, you know, stay focused and going out playing basketball and knowing what happened in this state. I got kids, send them to school every day, drop them off and you feel for the parents that are going through what they’re going through”
“I can’t even imagine the pain, so for coach to come out here and say what he said, and every word was powerful was meaningful, I accept that challenge of trying to figure out a way to use my voice again and platform to help hopefully make change and you can tell what it meant to him.“
“Obviously, your mind wanders from time to time, but especially the moment of silence before the game and all of that, so it’s tough, but it reminds you how blessed we are to be able to do what we do and that we can’t get lost in the basketball game for two and a half hours, you know even though it is difficult, knowing what is going on in our country” Steph spoke with all seriousness, as he mentioned how difficult it was to play in Game 4 after the horrific events in Texas.
The Golden State Warriors came into Game 4 with a solid 3-0 lead and had a chance to pull off a sweep. However, this morning an incident at an elementary school in Texas shocked the entire nation. Prior to the game, there was a moment of silence to remember the innocent lives lost to this malignant act.
The Dallas Mavericks had a brilliant outing but aren’t going home just yet. Facing elimination at home in Game 4, they responded to get their first win of the Western Conference finals, beating the Golden State Warriors 119-109 on Tuesday night. The series, which now stands 3-1 in favor of the Warriors will head back to the Bay Area for Game 5 on Thursday night.
