Stephen Curry, the star point guard for the Golden State Warriors, had the privilege of hosting the 2022 ESPY Awards ceremony in Los Angeles. The ceremony is organized every year to raise money for the V Foundation and to review the sports year. The two-time MVP joined former hosts Drake, Megan Rapinoe, and Samuel L. Jackson and was able to get in a solid jab during his opening monologue despite just winning his fourth NBA championship.

Curry was the only person who should have been considered to host the ESPYs in 2022. Curry acknowledged King James as the first NBA player to host the ceremony, but not before making a cheeky joke at the Lakers superstar. The former MVP was the second player to hold the honor. Additionally, he had a terrific advisor to assist him prepare his monologue on Wednesday night. A wonderful dig at the Celtics was included in comedian Kevin Hart’s advice.

Stephen Curry just completed one of his best seasons, taking home MVP award and his fourth title. Curry won the ESPYs Best Player title this time after passing Ray Allen to become the all-time leader in 3-pointers made. The Warriors, who recently won their fourth championship in eight years, played the Celtics in the NBA Finals. While many people thought the Warriors were lucky to get into the Finals, Steve Kerr and company would destroy a youthful Boston team in six games at TD Garden, displaying their championship DNA. t. In a promo for the ESPYs, he introduced himself as “Proud husband of Ayesha Curry. Proud son of Dell Curry. Proud daddy of…(smiling) the Boston Celtics.” Grant Williams was present, so Steph proceeded to taunt Boston’s up-and-coming power forward. Curry speaks to Williams in the crowd stating :“It’s great to see you again, my man. I know you like this color, I’ll let you borrow it after I’m done. I might even let you wear a ring. We’ll see.”

Curry didn’t limit himself to making jokes during the event. He also returned with two awards as he earned the ESPY for Best Record-Breaking Performance, which he got for surpassing Ray Allen’s record for most 3-pointers made in league history, as well as Best NBA Player of the Year. During the NBA Finals last month, Curry undoubtedly outmuscled the Boston Celtics. Over the course of the six games, he scored over 31 points on average. This includes a game-changing 43 point outing in Boston when the Warriors were down 2-1 in the series. He entirely supported the Warriors during that game, leading them to win the title.
