“Most underrated GOAT contender” Stephen Curry registers never-before-seen record whilst securing 2022 NBA Finals MVP accolade
Stephen Curry with the Finals MVP Award
Stephen Curry is relentless in his approach, winning four championships, two MVPs (including the only one ever awarded unanimously), an All-Star MVP, and now finally, an NBA Finals MVP. Since Andre Iguodala earned the 2015 Finals MVP, critics have been pointing out the missing hardware. It didn’t matter that Curry was the most deserved Warrior at the time and it doesn’t matter that Curry has a long history of postseason success. It was simple to undermine him by failing to win Finals MVP.
Curry being dubbed the “best shooter of all time” does him an injustice, as it ignores the numerous other ways he has had an impact on both ends of the floor. It’s what makes Curry and Golden State’s championship victory over the 2022 Boston Celtics’ defensive superpower so amazing.
Is Stephen Curry the ‘Point GOAT’?
Stephen Curry was crowned NBA Finals MVP for the first time after the Golden State Warriors defeated the Boston Celtics 103-90 in Game 6 on Thursday. He scored 34 points in the game and 31.2 points per game in a historic series for him, since this is his fourth championship in the previous eight seasons. Curry has already established himself as the NBA’s all-time 3-point leader and has been crowned the league’s MVP twice during the regular season.
Curry also had five assists per game, 5.8 rebounds per game, and a 44.2 percent 3-point shooting percentage. He joins LeBron James, Tim Duncan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, and Bill Russell as the only players in league history to win at least four titles and two regular-season MVP awards. He has a lot of energy and has taken on every obligation necessary to accomplish huge team and individual success over the greater part of a decade and he’s still on his way.

Stephen Curry has been shooting 54.3 percent on strongly contested field goals and 61.1 percent on tightly contested 3-pointers until an off night in Game 5. All of this despite trying the most closely contested shots of any Finals participant.
Now he’s a Finals MVP after scoring 34 points in Game 6 of the series, which the Warriors won 103-90 thanks to another masterclass from their maestro. That should be enough to put the sceptics to rest who disregard Curry’s six Finals appearances, four titles, two MVP awards, and All-NBA honours in search of any reason to belittle his name.
