“So inspiring to see a strategy of buying old superstars pay off” Stephen Curry takes a dig at Lakers using ‘LA Rams’ at 2022 ESPYs
Stephen Curry at the ESPYs 2022
Stephen Curry was savage while hosting the ESPYs, exploiting the Los Angeles Rams’ victory in the Super Bowl to throw shade at the “old” LA Lakers. When he presented the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday, the Warriors star had the attention of the whole sports world. Naturally, he used the occasion to fire a few shots at his competitors as h e shifted his focus to the NBA team in Los Angeles and gave them a severe blow while paying respect to the NFL Champion Rams. Despite being one of the most definitive players in NBA history, Curry did acknowledge to feeling some nervousness before hosting the event, stating he obtained assistance from several previous hosts.
At the 2022 ESPY Awards in Los Angeles, Stephen Curry and the Warriors, who had just won their fourth NBA championship in eight seasons, were the topic of conversation throughout the evening. Throughout the evening, both the Warriors as a group and individual members earned several honors. Steph couldn’t help but make a joke about the Rams and the Lakers bringing in veterans in an effort to win championships, with varied rates of success, after noticing several Los Angeles Rams players inside the building.
Stephen Curry blasts the Lakers following their undermining season.
Ray Allen’s long-standing record for the most 3-pointers made in a career was broken by Stephen Curry this past NBA season, and he was honored for it at the ESPYS with the Best Record-Setting Performance award. It was only fitting that the Warriors get the Best Team award after the recent season they had. Curry, Thompson, and Draymond Green, their core players, went forward to claim the trophy after their team defeated the Boston Celtics to win the NBA title in 2022. The Golden State Warriors and Stephen Curry enjoyed an illustrious and unforgettable season, but the Los Angeles Lakers were unable to find their rhythm.
The Lakers were at the top of the mountain after winning the 2020 NBA championship and looked like they had a chance to win at least one more title in the next seasons. Another component that contributed to the Lakers’ ongoing focus was LeBron James, who remains the league’s face. However, the giants have experienced significant setbacks since that victory, and they haven’t progressed past the first round of the playoffs since. The Lakers’ championship team was down to just four players, and they fired their winning coach as well. If they want to improve their record by that many victories the next season, they will need to dramatically modify their mediocre team.

The Rams are well-known for trading away a lot of draft picks before the 2021 NFL season in exchange for veterans, which ultimately resulted in a 2021 Super Bowl victory. The Lakers, on the other hand, were not as fortunate and were excluded from the Play-In Tournament. So, Stephen Curry decided to roast the 2020 NBA champs hilariously stating: “It was so inspiring to watch you all [the Rams] play, watch y’all win a Super Bowl, watch y’all celebrate. It’s just inspiring to see this strategy of buying old superstars pay off for a local team here,”. The Lakers have received some criticism for signing every older former stars they could to create supporting casts for LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
During this time, the warriors strengthened their dynasty by adding new role-players and developing talent to their squad. Stephen Curry was not transformed into a Lakers fan by the entire joke, but it was well received in Golden State groups. Curry can do whatever he wants because it was his year as he just led the Warriors to their fourth NBA title since 2015 while also collecting his first MVP award in the Finals. The frosting on the cake was getting to host the ESPYs as for the Stephen Curry, the current NBA Finals MVP, is nominated for Best Athlete, Men’s Sports; Best Record-Breaking Performance; and Best NBA Player at the event.
