“He didn’t ask anybody in the team…” Stephen Curry uses a Michael Jordan quote to explain his leadership style
Michael Jordan and Stephen Curry
Stephen Curry the Greatest Shooter of All-Time has been an underrated leader since his day 1 as he took the leading role for the team. The headlines may always have Draymond Green, Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala as leaders getting the work done out there. But the reality is very different as it’s no one but the Chef himself who has been committed to the Golden State Warriors every time and every where. Stephen Curry has been the best possible leader for the team and has held everyone together as glue does. He was the one that brought in KD into the system and let him be in the light for the team’s success. Chef also has kept the “Big Three” of dubs untouched and it was built by the franchise so he waited all those years trusting the process until he knew it was time to dominate.
Stephen Curry has one of the most stacked resumes out there. And, this year has been very special for him. As he got himself his fourth title and first ever Finals MVP award. He already has multiple MVPs and several awards, honors and records registered under his name. But something he isn’t given the right recognition, credit and respect for is his leadership qualities. Stephen Curry has really worked his way to earn everything he has under his name. He never demanded a trade or even requested for a change in the system to the front office. He has stayed loyal for years and like a good leader carved out the best form of art from whatever he had to roll with in the roster.
Recently, it was revealed that a major part of Stephen Curry’s leadership style comes from Michael Jordan. As he himself claimed that and credited Black Jesus and his documentary “The Last Dance” for it. He has inspired millions of fans around the globe and changed the game in just some years while being a great leader who led the Golden State Warriors to the victory path and him getting a bit of his style from MJ is just hard to digest as that was very unexpected.
Stephen Curry reveals a secret behind his leadership style
Stephen Curry when questioned about his leadership style, went on to bring up a quote from Michael Jordan’s documentary, “The Last Dance” as he quoted: “He [Jordan] never asked anybody on his team or in the organization to do anything that he wouldn’t do himself. Set the bar for what work ethic was and that grind. He tried to set the pace with his actions. I’ve always carried that with me as the standard for what I expect from my teammates and people, that I lived up to that as well and I set the pace there.”
Stephen Curry is really winning out there and when such stories of inspiration and greats of his are revealed fans are just happy for him. Now he has got four rings and will be defending his title in the coming season. Many believe he has already made it to the G.O.A.T conversation with guys like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James in it. Still, some believe there’s time for him to be in that spot but a fifth ring will change it all and there is no doubt about it.
