Stephen Curry, Warriors next in line to suffer for endorsing FTX as lawsuit emerges
Stephen Curry
Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors are all over the NBA headlines as they can soon be in some great trouble. As they endorsed a Crypto-Currency company, FTX which last week declared bankruptcy. This declaration didn’t just eat up the billions of dollars customers invested in the market via them. But it is also getting Stephen Curry and the Warriors sued for promoting FTX’s Crypto-products.
The lawsuit is filed on behalf of Oklahoma resident, Edwin Garrison and a class of several crypto investors. Stephen Curry was a brand ambassador of the company and has even suited up in commercials promoting FTX. As it helped him in trading cryptocurrency even though he wasn’t an expert. And, Chef Curry isn’t the only celebrity getting sued. As Tom Brady, Shaquille O’Neal and some more well-known names are also listed with him.
The Golden State Warriors also had a partnership with FTX for on-court signage and an NFT partnership too. But right now, they have paused all those promotions since the company looks done and dusted, the way things are. Stephen Curry though isn’t really the guy at fault but he and everyone who promoted FTX and is mentioned in the lawsuit filed by lawyers, David Boles and Adam Moskowitz are going to suffer a lot. As the founder and former CEO of FTX, Samuel Bankman-Fried is under investigation for fraud.
The lawsuit filed against Stephen Curry and other celebrities who promoted FTX states: “FTX’s business was based upon false representations and deceptive conduct. Although many incriminating FTX emails and texts have already been destroyed, we located them and they are evidence of how FTX’s fraudulent scheme was designed to take advantage of unsophisticated investors from across the country…”
The on and off-the-court struggles of Stephen Curry, Warriors
The off-court struggles are very fresh for the guard and his team and they may find a way out of those. As Stephen Curry and the Dubs aren’t the ones responsible for the fraud that happened. But again, they play a role in it as they promoted FTX and as the investigation continues further with hearings being held for FTX collapse the picture might soon be clearer.
But let’s not forget about the on-court struggles of the Warriors as they are yet to win on the road. And, even with Stephen Curry balling out and dropping 50 points they are ending up on the losing end. They are bad on both ends of the court and aren’t living up to the expectations one has from the defending champions. They really have to get things going for them and it’s high time for their bench to wake up and back up the veteran stars or else they’ll end up wasting the MVP-caliber performances of Chef Curry.
