Ayesha Curry, the spouse of Warriors superstar Stephen Curry, sparked controversy among NBA fans after she appeared to take off her wedding ring on live television.
The situation occurred on a recent installment of “Girl Chat”, a daytime talk show that features diverse women and their perspectives. During a segment called “The Real Fri-Yay”, a shirtless man descended the stairs to serve beverages to the hosts and guests of the show.
Ayesha Curry, who was a guest on the show, responded to the man’s entrance by reaching for her left hand and acting as if she was removing her ring. She then grinned and chuckled awkwardly as the man came closer to her.
The video clip of the incident went viral on social media, and many NBA fans were not amused by Ayesha Curry’s behavior. They expressed sympathy for Stephen Curry, who has been married to Ayesha since 2011 and has three children with her. They also accused Ayesha of being disrespectful, hypocritical and attention-seeking.
This is not Ayesha’s first brush with controversy. In 2016, she infamously tweeted that the NBA was “rigged” after the Warriors lost to the Cavaliers in the finals. She later deleted the tweet and apologized, but not before facing criticism from fans and media.
In 2019, she admitted in an interview with Jada Pinkett Smith that she felt insecure about not getting enough male attention, despite being married to one of the most popular and successful athletes in the world. She said that she wondered if “something was wrong” with her because she didn’t receive any “looky-loos” from other men.
