The Golden State Warriors are not having a good season so far. They entered the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia set on winning the game. The Atlanta Hawks are also enduring a losing season. The Warriors are loaded with veteran superstars. It should have been an easy matchup for them. Well, it was for a certain Stephen Curry, not so much for the team. The loss despite Curry’s heroics has fans calling for the heads of his teammates.

The Warriors have been plagued with an overall drop in play from their existing stars. Stephen Curry has been taking the offensive load throughout the season. So much has been the load, that even head coach Steve Kerr mentioned it a month ago. Tonight was no different. Curry exploded for 60 points. The rest of the team combined 74. That is an average of 8.2 points per player. The non-existent support from his teammates led to the loss.

Such was the disparity in play, that Curry had to drag the team with his two hands to tie the game in regulation. Six players on the Warriors ended with a negative score in the +/- differential. For a Warriors team looking to compete for a championship, this sort of production will not help.

The Hawks on the other hand had 6 of their 9 players finish in double digits. Coupled with home-court advantage, the young Hawks showed composure to win in overtime 141-134. The Hawks showed the Warriors that team performance is important to win games.
