The Golden State Warriors are in a tough spot in their first-round series against the Los Angeles Lakers, down 3-1 and after facing defeat in Game 4 on Monday night. But their troubles go beyond the basketball court, as they also have to deal with a potential RAT in their organization, said Steve Kerr.
Hours before tip-off, NBA Insider Shams Charania tweeted out the Warriors’ starting lineup for Game 4, which included a surprising change. Gary Payton II, who had played only 21 games for the Warriors in the regular season, was in the lineup, much to everyone’s surprise.
This was a bold move by coach Steve Kerr, who was looking for a spark after his team was blown out by 30 points in Game 3. He wanted to give Payton II a chance to put his defensive skills and athleticism to use against the Lakers’ stars.
But Kerr’s plan was spoiled by Charania’s tweet, which gave the Lakers and the rest of the world a heads-up on what the Warriors were going to do. Kerr was annoyed by this and made his feelings known in a sarcastic and witty way during his pre-game media availability.
It’s ok, Shams is in the lineup sharing business… We have a special correspondent within our organization who shares information with him apparently.Steve Kerr said
Steve Kerr unhappy with lineup leak as Warriors face an important Game 4
Kerr’s statement raised some questions about who could be the ‘rat’ within the Warriors who leaked the lineup to Charania. People wondered if it could be someone from the front office or probably the medical staff who had access to the lineup.

However, there is no proof to back up this theory, and it is possible that Charania got the information from another source outside the Warriors. It is worth noting that, Charania is one of the most reputable and well-informed reporters in the NBA, and he often breaks news before anyone else.
Regardless of who spilled the beans, Kerr’s comment showed that he was unhappy with the situation and wanted to keep his strategies under wraps from his opponents. He also wanted to rally his players and create a sense of cohesion and trust within his team.
The Warriors have overcome many challenges and obstacles this season. Facing the Sacramento Kings in Round 1 of the Playoffs was no easy task. After making it out alive of Round 1 in Game 7 of the series, the Warriors will require a similar effort to get past the Lakers.
