In one of the most confusing trades this off-season, the Washington Wizards traded Chris Paul to the Golden State Warriors for Jordan Poole. The trade left fans puzzled because the fast-paced style of play in Golden State contrasts with CP3’s traditional pick-and-roll offense.

During a recent appearance on NBA Today, Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr addressed CP3’s fit in the team’s system, mentioning that they used to compete against him and, therefore, had some animosity. However, now that he’s part of the team, they have come to love him.

He said, “I used to hate Reggie [Miller]… I feel like that’s kind of how it’s gonna be with Chris [Paul]. [Warriors] hated him because we were competing, and he was so good. And now that’s our guy, and we love him.”

Chris Paul’s presence on the Warriors could be a great fit, offering veteran leadership to help develop young players like Jonathan Kuminga and lead the bench unit to reduce turnovers, which were a significant factor in the team’s poor regular season performance and playoff disappointment.

Chris Paul has started in every game throughout his 18-year career. However, when he was traded to the Warriors, there were doubts about whether he would come off the bench due to Stephen Curry already being their star point guard.

In a recent interview, Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr addressed the issue, stating that they will resolve it during training camp. He mentioned that they can only assess what’s best for the team and how everything will look once they have everyone on the floor

All of that will happen in training camp. Until we get everyone on the floor, we won’t be able to assess what’s best for our team and how everything is going to look,” Kerr told Shayna Rubin of The Mercury News.

Kerr added that they will figure it out, emphasizing that their ultimate goal is to win a championship. He expressed confidence in the team’s abilities and competitiveness. “But I’m very confident that it’s going to work out. We got great guys and we got great champions, great competitors. There’s one goal next year, and that’s to win at the highest possible level. Everything else will unfold as the season does.”

CP3, still seeking his first championship, hopes for a smooth integration into the Warriors system, aiming to finally win his first ring. It will be intriguing to see his contributions and if the team can achieve their goal.
